Vietnam fertilizer market – July & First Half of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In July 2025, domestic fertilizer prices remained stable with no fluctuations compared to the previous month, thanks to abundant supply and steady demand during the mid-crop season. However, compared to previous years, prices of most fertilizers were still relatively high.
Central Vietnam: No adjustments recorded. Lam Thao phosphate fertilizer was priced at VND 280,000 – 300,000/bag; Van Dien phosphate at VND 270,000 – 290,000/bag. NPK 16-16-8: Dau Trau brand VND 720,000 – 740,000/bag; Phu My VND 710,000 – 730,000/bag; Lao Cai VND 700,000 – 720,000/bag.
Southwest (Mekong Delta): Prices stagnated. Ca Mau granular potash was still listed at VND 500,000 – 530,000/bag. NPK 20-20-15 “Three Storks” brand remained unchanged at VND 870,000 – 900,000/bag.
Southeast & Central Highlands: Fertilizer prices remained stable. Powder potash: Phu My VND 500,000 – 580,000/bag, Ca Mau VND 490,000 – 570,000/bag. NPK 16-16-8: Ca Mau VND 660,000 – 750,000/bag; Phu My VND 650,000 – 750,000/bag; Dau Trau VND 670,000 – 750,000/bag.
Imports
According to preliminary statistics from the Department of Vietnam Customs (DVC):
· June 2025: Vietnam imported 802,691 tons of fertilizer, worth USD 301.97 million, average price USD 376.2/ton. Compared with May 2025: +45.9% in volume, +73.6% in value, +19% in price. Compared with June 2024: +76% in volume, +95.8% in value, +11.2% in price.
· 6M/2025: Imports reached nearly 3.18 million tons, worth over USD 1.05 billion, average price USD 330.7/ton, up 23% in volume, 25.4% in value, and 2% in price YoY.
Top suppliers:
· China: 1.35 million tons (42.4% of volume), USD 402.01 million (38.2% of value), avg. USD 298.3/ton; +30.4% vol., +35.8% value, +4.2% price YoY.
· Russia: 470,489 tons (14.8% vol.), USD 221.67 million (21.1% value), avg. USD 471.2/ton; +29.9% vol., +35.1% value, +4% price YoY.
· Laos: 227,951 tons (7.2% vol.), USD 64.28 million (6.1% value), avg. USD 282/ton; +32.2% vol., +42.2% value, +7.6% price YoY.
Imports from RCEP markets in 6M/2025: 2.06 million tons, USD 580.78 million (+26.8% vol., +29.2% value). From CPTPP markets: 377,770 tons, USD 79.17 million (+18.7% vol., +27% value). From ASEAN: 371,823 tons, USD 110.69 million (+20% vol., +16.4% value).

· June 2025: Vietnam exported 171,353 tons of fertilizer, worth USD 77.61 million, avg. USD 453/ton. Compared with May 2025: -8.3% volume, -0.6% value, +8.5% price. Compared with June 2024: -0.9% volume, +20.8% value, +21.9% price.
· 6M/2025: Exports reached 1.12 million tons, worth USD 449.61 million, avg. USD 401.8/ton. Compared with 6M/2024: +23.9% volume, +24.2% value, +0.2% price.
Top markets:
· Cambodia: 379,120 tons (33.9% vol.), USD 144.31 million (32.1% value), avg. USD 380.6/ton; +51.6% vol., +41.2% value, -6.9% price YoY.
· South Korea: 108,978 tons (9.7% vol.), USD 44.74 million (10% value), avg. USD 410.6/ton; +13.9% vol., +13.2% value, -0.7% price YoY.
· Malaysia: 80,681 tons (7.2% vol.), USD 33.9 million (7.5% value), avg. USD 420.2/ton; +33.8% vol., +56.9% value, +17.2% price YoY.

· Domestic prices: stable across all regions, still high compared with past years.
· Imports: surged in both quantity and value, led by China, Russia, and Laos. RCEP and CPTPP partners remained key suppliers.
