Daily: Domestic coffee prices increased on August 21, 2025

 Thursday, August 21,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic coffee prices on August 21, 2025, ranged from 123,000 – 123,900 VND/kg, continuing their upward trend since the start of the week.

The surge was driven by the U.S. imposing a 50% tariff on Brazilian coffee; frost threats in Brazil affecting output; and reduced exports from the world’s largest coffee producer.
At the domestic level:
• In Di Linh, Lâm Hà, and Bảo Lộc (Lâm Đồng): 123,000 VND/kg.
• In Cư M’gar (Đắk Lắk): 123,700 VND/kg.
• In Ea H’leo and Buôn Hồ: 123,600 VND/kg.
• In Đắk Nông: 123,900 VND/kg (Gia Nghĩa, Đắk R’lấp at 122,800 VND/kg).
• In Gia Lai: 123,500 VND/kg (Chư Prông); Pleiku and La Grai at 123,400 VND/kg.
• In Kon Tum (Quảng Ngãi): 123,400 VND/kg.
Domestic coffee prices rose compared with yesterday morning.
On global markets:
• London Robusta November 2025 contracts rose USD133 to USD4,401/tonne; January 2026 contracts rose USD124 to USD4,258/tonne.
• New York Arabica December 2025 contracts rose 4.4 cents/lb to 353.45 cents/lb; March 2026 rose 4.7 cents/lb to 343.7 cents/lb.
Prices continued their rally from early this week due to U.S. tariffs, Brazil’s frost threats and export slowdown, speculative activity, and a weaker USD.
By early August 21 in the U.S., the Dollar Index (DXY) fell 0.05% to 98.22 after President Donald Trump called on Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to resign. Trump has repeatedly criticized Fed Chair Jerome Powell for being too slow in cutting rates, and traders expect he may replace Powell with a more dovish candidate when Powell’s term ends.
According to Bloomberg, frost and cold weather ahead of the flowering period may reduce Brazil’s coffee output, adding upward pressure on prices. Brazil’s coffee exports have slowed more than expected, with the 2025/26 crop forecast at 63.9 million bags (60kg each), including both Arabica and Robusta.
