 Wednesday, August 20,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic pepper prices remained unchanged at 140,000 – 143,000 VND/kg on August 20, 2025, with the highest at 143,000 VND/kg in Đắk Lắk – Đắk Nông.

The International Pepper Community (IPC) adjusted downward Indonesian pepper prices earlier this week.
  • Đắk Lắk: 143,000 VND/kg
  • Đắk Nông (Lâm Đồng): 143,000 VND/kg
  • Gia Lai: 141,000 VND/kg
  • Đồng Nai: 141,000 VND/kg
  • Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (HCMC): 141,000 VND/kg
  • Bình Phước (Đồng Nai): 140,000 VND/kg
Global market:
  • Black pepper Lampung (Indonesia): USD7,173/tonne (-0.49%).
  • Black pepper Brazil ASTA 570: USD5,850/tonne.
  • Black pepper Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA: USD9,400/tonne.
  • White pepper Muntok: USD10,027/tonne (-0.49%).
  • White pepper Malaysia ASTA: USD12,700/tonne.
  • Vietnam black pepper: USD6,240/tonne (500 g/l), USD6,370/tonne (550 g/l).
  • Vietnam white pepper: USD8,950/tonne.
IPC noted mixed market movements last week:
  • India’s domestic and export prices increased.
  • Indonesia’s pepper continued rising, partly due to the rupiah strengthening 1% against the USD (16,212 IDR/USD).
  • Malaysia’s domestic and export prices rose.
  • Sri Lanka’s domestic pepper rose for the third consecutive week.
  • Vietnam’s domestic pepper increased for three straight weeks, while export prices stayed flat.
  • Brazil’s pepper prices fell.
  • Cambodia’s black pepper rose, while China’s white pepper remained unchanged.
Although Vietnam’s pepper exports to China improved in the first half of 2025, growth momentum remains limited. By the end of June 2025, Vietnam had exported a total of 124,133 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, including 105,939 tonnes of black pepper and 18,194 tons of white pepper. Although export volume decreased by 12.9% compared to the same period in 2024, the turnover reached 850.5 million USD, up 34.1%. The strong growth in value mainly came from the impressive increase in export prices. The average price of black pepper reached 6,665 USD/tonne, up 93.6%; white pepper reached 8,079 USD/tonne, up 63.0% over the same period last year. This is the highest price in many years, clearly reflecting the recovery trend of the global pepper market, and showing a significant improvement in product quality and value-added chain of the Vietnamese pepper industry. In terms of markets, the United States continued to be the largest destination with 24,979 tonnes, accounting for 23.6% of total exports.
Other key markets such as: India (7,768 tonnes), UAE (7,700 tonnes), China (6,610 tonnes) and Germany (4,836 tonnes) maintained stable import levels, reflecting the trend of market diversification, reducing dependence on some traditional partners.
By the end of July 2025, China ranked third among Vietnam’s export markets, with 10,982 tonnes (+36.2% YoY), accounting for 7.6% of total exports.
However, in July 2025 alone, exports to China reached only 1,689 tonnes, down 49.3% MoM. Experts expect that in the second half of 2025, the pepper market will become more active as importers rebuild inventories ahead of the year-end peak consumption season.
