 Thursday, August 14,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic pepper prices on August 14, 2025, ranged from VND 140,000 to VND 142,000/kg, remaining unchanged compared to the same time yesterday morning.

In Đắk Lắk province, pepper was purchased today at VND142,000/kg.
In Đắk Nông (Lâm Đồng province), the price was also VND142,000/kg.
In Gia Lai province, pepper was priced at VND140,000/kg.
Meanwhile, in Đồng Nai, the price stood at VND140,000/kg.
In Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (Ho Chi Minh City area), the price was VND140,000/kg.
In Bình Phước (Đồng Nai province), pepper was purchased at VND140,000/kg.
The US market is expected to see strong growth in orders in Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, as importers begin stockpiling for the peak consumption season.
At the close of the latest session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at USD7,175/tonne, up 0.38%; Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at USD5,850/tonne, down USD150/tonne; Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at USD9,250/tonne. White pepper prices: Muntok at USD10,029/tonne, up 0.37%; Malaysian white pepper ASTA at USD12,500/tonne.
Vietnamese black pepper was traded at USD6,240/tonne for 500 g/l type; USD6,370/tonne for 550 g/l type; white pepper at USD8,950/tonne. IPC adjusted Indonesian pepper prices up, while Brazilian prices declined.
Experts note that demand in the coming period will be driven by increased US orders in Q4 2025 and Q1 2026 as importers stockpile for peak consumption. This demand growth is expected to be a major driver for pepper prices. However, this period also coincides with the arrival of new crops from Indonesia and Brazil, posing challenges for the pepper industry.
Market movements in the final months of the year will also depend heavily on USD fluctuations and changes in US countervailing tax policies.
In the global market, 2025 marks the fourth consecutive year of declining global pepper output. Forecasts suggest that in the coming years, global production will still not be enough to meet consumption demand, which supports a positive price outlook for year-end.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam’s pepper cultivation area in 2024 was around 113,000 ha, with an estimated output of 190,000 tonnes. In 2023, the area was 115,000 ha, while the highest was in 2017 at about 151,900 ha. The area is projected to fall to around 110,000 ha in the near future.
