Industrial production index increased in 34 localities in 7 months

AsemconnectVietnam - The IIP index in the first 7 months of 2025 increased in all 34 provinces and cities, thanks to the driving force from the processing and manufacturing industry and the electricity production and distribution industry.

In 7 months, the industrial production index increased by 8.6%
The General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance) has just announced socio-economic statistics for July and the first 7 months of 2025. Accordingly, industrial production in July continued to maintain its growth momentum. The industrial production index in July is estimated to increase by 0.5% compared to the previous month and by 8.5% compared to the same period last year.
In the first 7 months of 2025, the industrial production index increased by 8.6% compared to the same period last year. The index of industrial production (IIP) in July was estimated to increase by 0.5% compared to the previous month and by 8.5% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 9.1% compared to the same period last year; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 9.3%; electricity production and distribution increased by 7.0%; and the mining industry increased by 2.6%.
In the first 7 months of 2025, the IIP was estimated to increase by 8.6% compared to the same period last year (the figure of the same period of 2024 increased by 8.5%). Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 10.3% (the figure of the same period of 2024 increased by 9.6%), contributing 8.5 percentage points to the overall increase; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 4.6% (the figure of the same period of2024 increased by 12.0%), contributing 0.4 percentage points; water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment increased by 10.4% (the figure increased by 7.1% in the same period of 2024), contributing 0.1 percentage points; mining decreased by 2.7% (the figure decreased by 6.6% in the same period of 2024), reducing by 0.4 percentage points.
Notably, the industrial production index in the first 7 months of 2025 of some key secondary industries increased compared to the same period last year, such as motor vehicle production increased by 29.9%; rubber and plastic product production increased by 16.9%; leather and related products production increased by 15.4%; other non-metallic mineral products production increased by 14.8%; apparel production increased by 14.5%; other means of transport production increased by 12.2%; prefabricated metal products production (except machinery and equipment) increased by 11.0%; production of beds, cabinets, tables and chairs increased by 10.9%; metal production increased by 10.1%; food processing increased by 10.0%; production of electronic products, computers and optical products increased by 7.9%.
On the contrary, the IIP index of some industries increased slightly or decreased, such as beverage production increased by 3.1%; electrical equipment production increased by 3.0%; crude oil and natural gas exploitation decreased by 8.1%; production of drugs, pharmaceutical chemicals and medicinal materials decreased by 4.9%.
The industrial production index in the first 7 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year increased in all 34 localities. Some localities had a fairly high IIP index thanks to the processing and manufacturing industry; the electricity production and distribution industry increased highly.
However, on the contrary, some localities had a low IIP index increase due to the processing and manufacturing industry; Mining and electricity production and distribution increased slightly or decreased.
Some key industrial products in the first 7 months of 2025 increased compared to the same period last year, such as automobiles increased by 64.4%; televisions increased by 21.1%; NPK mixed fertilizers increased by 19.7%; casual clothes increased by 14.9%; cement increased by 14.8%; leather shoes and sandals increased by 13.6%; aquatic feed increased by 11.9%; rolled steel increased by 11.5%; LPG increased by 11.4%; steel bars and angle steel increased by 11.0%; diameter increased by 10.4%.
On the contrary, some products decreased compared to the same period last year: Gaseous natural gas decreased by 12.9%; synthetic fiber textiles decreased by 5.2%; crude oil decreased by 3.1%; mobile phones decreased by 0.4%.
Labor force working in industrial enterprises increased
The number of labor force working in industrial enterprises as of July 1, 2025 increased by 1.0% compared to the same period last month and increased by 3.9% compared to the same period last year. In which, the corresponding rate of State-owned enterprises increased by 0.5% compared to the same period last month and the same period last year; foreign-invested enterprises increased by 1.2% and 4.6%; non-State enterprises increased by 0.6% and 2.7%.
By industry, the number of labor force working in mining enterprises increased by 1.2% compared to the same period last month and increased by 1.6% compared to the same period last year; the number of labor force working in the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 1.1% and 4.1%; in the electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution decreased by 0.1% and 0.5%, respectively; and the figure in the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 0.2% and 1.5%.
