AsemconnectVietnam - According to the data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the volume of rice exports in July of 2025 was estimated at 750,000 tonnes with a value of 366.1 million USD, bringing the total volume and value of rice exports in the first 7 months of 2025 to 5.5 million tonnes worth of 2.81 billion USD, up by 3.1% in volume but down by 15.9% in value compared to the same period of 2024.

The average export price of rice in the first 7 months of 2025 was estimated at 514 USD/tonne, down by 18.4% compared to the same period of 2024. However, this figure is higher than the average of 400 USD or slightly more of other rice exporting countries.
The Philippines was Vietnam's largest rice consuming market with a market share of 42.6%. Ghana and Ivory Coast were the next two largest markets with the market shares of 11.1% and 10.6%, respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the value of rice exports in the first 6 months of 2025 to the Philippines market decreased by 13.5%, the Ghana market increased by 53.5%, and the Ivory Coast market increased by 96.6%.
In the group of 15 largest export markets, the value of rice exports increased the most in the Bangladesh market with an increase of 188.2 times and the sharpest decrease in the Malaysian market with a decrease of 58.5%.
On the other hand, the value of rice imports in the first 7 months of 2025 reached 1 billion USD, an increase of 31.4% over the same period last year. Thus, the entire rice industry had a trade surplus of 1.81 billion USD, a decrease of 30%.
