Vietnam-Greece trade grows strongly thanks to EVFTA
Monday, July 28,2025
AsemconnectVietnam - The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has had a positive impact on trade relations between Vietnam and Greece during the 2020–2024 period and the early months of 2025.
Between 2020 and 2024, trade between Vietnam and Greece experienced encouraging growth, with EVFTA playing an important role. Although Greece is not Vietnam’s largest trade partner in the EU, there remains great cooperation potential, especially in areas where the two sides have complementary strengths, such as tourism, agriculture, technology, and logistics. Vietnam continues to maintain a trade surplus, confirming the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in the Greek market.
According to data from the International Trade Centre (ITC) of the WTO, total bilateral trade between Vietnam and Greece in 2024 reached USD435 million, with Vietnam's exports to Greece amounting to USD366.6 million. Vietnam's key export items to Greece in 2024 included phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; coffee; footwear; textiles and garments; cashew nuts; seafood; and wood and wooden products.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s imports from Greece in 2024 reached nearly USD68.5 million. Major imports included pharmaceuticals, various types of cotton, construction materials, machinery and spare parts, chemical products, iron and steel products, milk and dairy products, and olive oil.
In 2024, Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of nearly USD300 million with Greece, an increase of over 38% compared to 2020 — the year EVFTA came into effect — when the surplus stood at USD184.5 million.
