AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's coffee exports reached 5.4 billion USD in the first 6 months of 2025, up by 66% in value over the same period. In addition to traditional markets, Spain and Algeria have emerged as two new bright spots of growth, reflecting the effectiveness of the export market expansion strategy.

The year 2025 is witnessing a bright picture for the Vietnamese coffee industry, not only in traditional markets but also from emerging bright spots, promising to open up potential growth opportunities. In the context of coffee exports in the first half of the year bringing in an impressive figure of 5.4 billion USD, a 66% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024, the rise of Algeria and Spain is truly a remarkable signal, showing that efforts to diversify the market are reaping sweet fruits.
The Algerian market has emerged as a phenomenon with spectacular growth, even considered the most impressive among Vietnam's coffee export markets in the first half of the year. This North African country imported nearly 56,800 tonnes of Vietnamese coffee, bringing in a turnover of 294 million USD and surprisingly, the export value increased by 254%.
This figure is not only a growth in sales but also opens a strategic door. The positive signal from Algeria helps Vietnam to penetrate deeper into the Muslim market, where coffee consumption demand is considered stable. This could be a testament to the fact that Vietnamese businesses are gradually finding new market niches, taking advantage of tight global supply and high coffee prices to expand their footprint.
No less remarkable, Spain also recorded a surge in growth, especially in value. Although the export volume to this market increased by only 6%, the value skyrocketed by 67%. This shows that the average value of coffee exports to Spain has increased significantly, reflecting the demand for higher quality coffee products or the better price position of Vietnamese coffee in this market.
In particular, in June alone, the amount of Vietnamese coffee exported to Spain increased by more than 176%, an impressive figure showing that demand is recovering extremely strongly. This growth further affirms that Spain is not only a traditional market but is becoming a more solid support for Vietnamese coffee exports, especially when compared to some markets with declining import volumes such as Italy or Russia, although the value is still increasing thanks to high international coffee prices.
The rise of Algeria and Spain, along with the steady growth momentum in traditional markets such as the US, Japan, the Netherlands and Belgium, shows the diverse and flexible picture of the Vietnamese coffee industry. This not only comes from making good use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) such as EVFTA, UKVFTA, CPTPP, helping businesses expand export markets, but also reflects efforts to invest in processing technology and traceability to increase product value.
New bright spots such as Algeria and Spain are vivid evidence of the strategy of diversifying markets and enhancing product value of Vietnamese coffee. To maintain this growth momentum in the last 6 months of the year, the coffee industry will need to continue to promote deep processing, develop brands, and especially standardize criteria on quality, traceability and sustainability certification to meet the increasing demands of high-end markets.
