Exports to Japan increased in first 6 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the Japanese market in June of 2025 reached 2.2 billion USD, an increase of 7.4% compared to the previous month, and in the first 6 months of 2025, it reached more than 12.8 billion USD, an increase of 12.2% over the same period last year.
With a population of more than 126 million people, Japan is a market with large import and consumption demand for products: fish and processed fish products, shrimp, eel, meat, meat products, soybeans, cereal products, fresh and processed vegetables, coffee, etc.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is considered a country with strengths in the above-mentioned products and has the ability to supply well to the Japanese market.
Leading the export turnover in the first 6 months of 2025 were textiles and garments reached 2.1 billion USD, up by 12.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 16.4% of the export proportion. The next was means of transport and spare parts reaching 1.5 billion USD, up 12%, accounting for 12.4%; and then was the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reaching 1.3 billion USD, accounting for 10.1% of the export proportion.
Some items saw export turnover growth in the first 6 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, such as phones of all kinds and components increased by 23%; coffee increased by 58.5%; confectionery increased by 37%; pepper increased by 80.1%; fertilizers of all kinds increased by 72.4%; cassava and cassava products increased by 765.8%.
Highly appreciating the potential for trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, especially in relation to agricultural products and food, according to experts from Japan, Vietnamese agricultural products and food are increasingly welcomed by Japanese consumers.
