 Thursday, July 17,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic coffee prices in Vietnam today ranged between VND91,700 – 92,300/kg, increased slightly compared to yesterday morning.

• In Di Linh, Lam Ha, and Bao Loc (Lam Dong province), coffee is purchased at VND91,700/kg.
• In Cu M’gar (Dak Lak), the price is VND92,100/kg; in Ea H’leo and Buon Ho, VND92,000/kg.
• In Dak Nong (Lam Dong), Gia Nghia and Dak R’lap areas report VND92,200 – 92,300/kg.
• In Gia Lai (Chu Prong, Pleiku, La Grai) and Kon Tum (Quang Ngai), prices are stable at VND92,000/kg.
Arabica surged strongly after several days of decline. Traders are pushing shipments from Brazil to the U.S., and increasingly dry weather in Brazil is another factor supporting prices.
Global Coffee Market:
• Robusta in London (September 2025 contract) rose by USD19/tonne to USD3,427/tonne; November 2025 contract rose USD37/tonne to USD3,396/tonne.
• Arabica in New York (September 2025 contract) increased by 11.1 cents/lb to 308.45 cents/lb; December 2025 rose 10.65 cents/lb to 300.9 cents/lb.
Why Arabica rose strongly:
According to expert Nguyễn Quang Bình, traders are accelerating shipments from Brazil to the U.S. before the 50% tariff comes into effect on August 1. The U.S. is the world’s largest coffee consumer, with 33% of its consumption supplied by Brazil.
In addition, Brazil’s weather is turning drier, supporting a rebound in coffee prices. The new tariff could raise U.S. coffee prices, potentially curbing domestic demand and putting long-term pressure on global coffee prices as surplus supply shifts to other export markets.
A weakening USD also supports the rebound. Early July 17 in the U.S., the Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback against six major currencies, fell 0.31% to 98.31.
The USD and U.S. bond yields fell after President Donald Trump said it is "highly unlikely" he will fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), Vietnam exported an estimated 953,900 tonnes of coffee worth 5.45 billion USD in the first six months of 2025, increasing by 5.3% in volume and 67.5% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
The average export price surged by 59.1% year-on-year, reaching 5,708 USD per tonne.
Germany, Italy and Spain remained Vietnam’s top three coffee importers, accounting for 16.3, 7.9, and 7.4% of total exports respectively. Notably, export value to Germany more than doubled in the first five months of the year, while Italy saw a 45.1% rise and Spain 55.8%.Among Vietnam’s top 15 export markets, the most significant increase came from Mexico, with export value soaring 71.6 times, while China recorded the lowest increase at 22.9%.
