Calculated from data published on June 10, 2025 by the General Department of Customs
Forecast
Global fertilizer prices are expected to rise in the near future due to the Iran-Israel conflict, which has significantly affected urea supply from Middle Eastern countries, especially Iran—a major producer benefiting from low-cost input gas.
- Global urea prices have surged by 25–30% at times as Iran was forced to shut down all 7 urea and ammonia plants amid escalating conflict.
- Egypt also suspended all urea production due to natural gas supply cuts from Israel.
- The instability has also driven transportation and insurance costs higher.
- The shutdown of production in both Iran and Egypt has exacerbated the global urea shortage.
- Limited supply from Egypt and the Black Sea region has given Algeria an advantage to benefit from the rising prices.
