Vietnam animal feed market – June 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In the early months of 2025, domestic animal feed prices continued the downward trend from last year despite global economic uncertainties.
The decrease in input material prices has led to a reduction in finished animal feed prices. Specifically, the price of finishing pig feed (for pigs over 60kg) dropped by 7%, and broiler feed (compound feed) decreased by 5%.
- Broiler chick feed: 160,000 – 170,000 VND per 25kg bag
- Broiler grower feed: 130,000 – 140,000 VND per 25kg bag
- Layer feed: 140,000 – 150,000 VND per 25kg bag
- Barramundi feed (UP brand): 28,500 VND/kg
- Cargill fish feed: 14,000 VND/kg
- Whiteleg shrimp feed (UP brand): increased by 1,750 VND/kg to 34,500 VND/kg
Prices of rice bran and cornmeal raw materials fluctuated by type.
Imports
According to preliminary data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's imports of animal feed and raw materials in May 2025 reached 425.77 million USD, up 4.3% from April 2025 but down 3.6% year-on-year.
Cumulatively, in the first five months of 2025, imports totaled nearly 2 billion USD, down 6.1% from the same period in 2024.
Top import markets:
- Argentina: 836.45 million USD (41.9% share), up 53.5% YoY
- USA: 323.29 million USD (16.2% share), down 34.5% YoY
- Brazil: 278.16 million USD (13.9% share), down 11.3% YoY
- EU: 57.39 million USD, down 4.7% YoY
- Southeast Asia: 139.98 million USD, down 20.9% YoY
Corn
In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam imported over 4 million tons of corn worth 1.04 billion USD, averaging 259.3 USD/ton (down 5.5% in volume, 2.8% in value but up 2.9% in price YoY).
- May 2025: 1.01 million tons, 265.12 million USD, 262 USD/ton
- Argentina: 2 million tons (50% market share), 517.03 million USD
- Brazil: 1 million tons, 250.17 million USD
- Others: Laos (47,051 tons), Thailand (2,130 tons), India (1,625 tons)
Soybeans
In Jan–May 2025, soybean imports reached 937,273 tons, valued at 428.98 million USD (457.7 USD/ton), down 5.2% in volume, 17.8% in value, and 13.3% in price YoY.
- May 2025: 233,899 tons, 110.91 million USD, 474.2 USD/ton
- USA: 457,126 tons (48.8% share), 205.97 million USD
- Brazil: 363,296 tons, 167.64 million USD
- Canada: 85,249 tons, 40.99 million USD
Wheat
In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam imported over 2.74 million tons of wheat, valued at nearly 728.97 million USD, at an average price of 265.9 USD/ton (down 3.2% in volume, 6.5% in value, and 3.4% in price YoY).
- May 2025: 336,953 tons, 91.04 million USD, 270.2 USD/ton
- Brazil: 989,002 tons (36.1% share), 254.41 million USD
- Australia: 650,821 tons, 177.4 million USD
- USA: 339,971 tons, 93.04 million USD
Exports
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs:
- May 2025: Animal feed and raw material exports reached nearly 108.9 million USD (down 10.3% MoM, up 17.9% YoY)
- Jan–May 2025: 497 million USD (up 23.1% YoY)
