Textile fiber supply market for Vietnam in first 5 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 5 months of 2025, textile fiber imports reached 517,593 tonnes, equivalent to 1.15 billion USD, up 5.8% in volume and 9.6% in value compared to the first 5 months of 2024.
According to statistics from the Customs Department, in May of 2025, the country imported 113,416 tonnes of textile fiber, equivalent to 251.94 million USD, up by 7.5% in volume and 0.6% in value compared to April of 2025, and also up by 2% in volume and 2.3% in value compared to May of 2024. Import prices in May of 2025 averaged 2,221 USD /tonne, down by 6.4% compared to April of 2025 but up by 0.3% compared to May of 2024. In the first 5 months of 2025, the total import of this group of goods reached 517,593 tonnes, equivalent to 1.15 billion USD, an increase of 5.8% in volume and 9.6% in turnover compared to the first 5 months of 2024. The average price in the 5 months reached 2,228 USD/tonne, an increase of 3.6% compared to the first 5 months of 2024.
The largest amount of textile fibers imported to Vietnam came from China, reaching 371,708 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 769.97 million USD, with an average price of 2,071.4 USD/tonne, accounting for 71.8% of the total imported fiber volume of the country and 66.8% of the total turnover, an increase of 12.6% in volume, 16.4% in turnover and 3.3% in price compared to the first 5 months of 2024
The second largest supplier of this group of goods to Vietnam was Taiwan, reaching 34,869 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 89.82 million USD, with an average price of 2,575.8 USD/tonne, accounting for 6.7% of the total volume and 7.8% of the total turnover, down by 4.7% in volume, but up by 0.6% in turnover and up by 5.5% in price over the same period last year.
The imports from the Indian market accounted for 4.7% of the total volume and 5.9% in total turnover, reaching 24,460 tonnes, worth 67.53 million USD, down by 18.5% in volume and down by 17.4% in turnover.
Imports of fiber from the Southeast Asian market in general accounted for 11.3% of the total volume and 8.6% of the total turnover, reaching 58,325 tonnes, worth 99.42 million USD, down 6.2% in volume but up 2.2% in turnover over the same period.
