Imports from New Zealand increased by 48.61% in first 5 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam’s imports of goods from New Zealand to Vietnam reached over 323.32 million USD in the first 5 months of 2025, a sharp increase of 48.61% over the same period of 2024.

In May of 2025 alone, the turnover reached over 62.74 million USD, down by 7.6% compared to April of 2025 and down by 1.5% compared to May of 2024.
In the opposite direction, goods exports to New Zealand reached over 276.7 million USD in the first 5 months of 2025, an increase of 0.95% compared to the first 5 months of 2024. Thus, the total two-way turnover between Vietnam and New Zealand reached 600.03 million USD, an increase of 22.04% compared to the first 5 months of 2024. Vietnam's trade deficit with the New Zealand market in the first 5 months of 2025 reached 46.62 million USD, while in the first 5 months of 2024, Vietnam's trade surplus with the New Zealand market reached 56.52 million USD. In 2024, the total two-way turnover between Vietnam and New Zealand reached over 1.29 billion USD, a decrease of 2.9% compared to 2023. Of which, Vietnam exported 686.79 million USD to New Zealand, up by 5.9% and imported 604 million USD from this market, down by 11.2%. Thus, Vietnam's trade surplus with the New Zealand market in 2024 reached 82.78 million USD, while in 2023, the trade deficit with New Zealand was 31.52 million USD.
In the first 5 months of 2025, the group of imported milk and dairy products from New Zealand reached the largest turnover of over 191.72 million USD, accounting for 59.3% of the total import turnover of all kinds of goods from this market, a sharp increase of 65.69% compared to the first 5 months of 2024. In May of 2025 alone, the imports of milk and dairy products from New Zealand reached nearly 30.85 million USD, down by 12.59% compared to April of 2025 but up by 8.66% compared to May of 2024.
The group of imported fruits and vegetables from New Zealand ranked second in terms of turnover, reaching 41.26 million USD, accounting for 12.76% of the total turnover, up by 18.21%. The next was the group of wood and wood Products reached 25.54 million USD, accounting for 7.9% of the total turnover, up by 54.62%. In general, the turnover of imported goods from New Zealand in the first 5 months of 2025 mostly increased compared to the first 5 months of 2024.
