Exports to Australia reached over 2.5 billion USD in first 5 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the Australian market in the first 5 months of 2025 reached over 2.5 billion USD, down by 0.3% over the same period last year.

In May of 2025 alone, the country’s exports of goods to Australia reached 537.6 million USD, down by 3.3% over the previous month.
In the first 5 months of 2025, the group of phones and components was leading the export turnover with 341.1 million USD, down by 5.9% over the same period last year, accounting for 13.1% of the export proportion; followed by crude oil reaching 306.2 million USD, down by 3.4%, accounting for 11.8% of the proportion; followed by the group of computers, electronic products and components reaching 272.4 million USD, up by 22.03%, accounting for 10.5% of the export proportion.
Some items saw increased export turnover in the first 5 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year included textiles and garments increased by 18%; iron and steel of all kinds increased by 64.5%; iron and steel products increased by 53.4%; electric wires and cables increased by 59%; textile and footwear materials and accessories increased by 60.4%.
To open the door for Vietnamese agricultural products to Australia, according to the representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, functional agencies and local governments need to support businesses in building and implementing sustainable development strategies, diversifying supply sources, cooperating to reduce costs, meeting rules of origin; building, developing and controlling the quality of planting and farming areas; complete the system of registration, assessment and issuance of codes for growing areas, farming areas, packaging, preliminary processing and processing facilities; promote digital transformation in agricultural production and trade. Enterprises themselves need to quickly have a plan to improve the quality of goods in a sustainable manner, fully meeting import conditions. At the same time, enterprises also need to focus on investing in increasing the proportion of processed products, improving the quality of agricultural products.
