Imports from Australia reached 5.65 billion USD in 5 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, the two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia in the first 5 months of 2025 reached nearly 5.65 billion USD, down by 0.76% compared to the first 5 months of 2024.
In particular, goods imported from Australia into Vietnam in the first 5 months of 2025 reached over 3.05 billion USD, down by 1.12% compared to the first 5 months of 2024. In May of 2025 alone, import turnover from this market reached nearly 615.42 million USD, down by 10.66% compared to April of 2025 but up by 8.39% compared to May of 2024.
On the other hand, the exports of goods to Australia reached over 2.59 billion USD in the first 5 months of 2025, down by 0.34% compared to the first 5 months of 2024. Thus, Vietnam's trade deficit with Australia in the first 5 months of this year reached nearly 460.7 million USD, down by 5.28% compared to the first 5 months of 2024.
In the first 5 months of 2025, the group of imported coal from Australia reached the largest turnover of 1.22 billion USD, accounting for 40.12% of the total import turnover of goods from this market, up by 1.6% over the same period of 2024.
The group of imported ores and minerals from Australia ranked second in turnover, reaching 561.55 million USD, accounting for 18.39% of the total turnover, down by 0.2%. The next was the group of common metals reached 431.08 million USD, accounting for 14.12% of the total turnover, up by 21.65%; wheat reached 177.4 million USD, accounting for 5.8%, up 6.45%. Notably, the group of wood and wood products imported from Australia, although the turnover was not high, but compared to the same period in 2024, it increased sharply by 85.65%, reaching 3.52 million USD. In contrast, the group of imported cotton decreased sharply by 59%, reaching 80.69 million USD.
