5 months of 2025: Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports increase by 15.1%

AsemconnectVietnam - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that in the first 5 months of 2025, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 28.04 billion USD, up 15.1% over the same period in 2024.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in May 2025 is estimated at 6.28 billion USD, up 19.6% compared to May 2024; bringing the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products in the first 5 months of 2025 to 28.04 billion USD, up 15.1% over the same period in 2024.
Of which, the export value of agricultural products reached 15.29 billion USD, up 16.3%; the export value of livestock products reached 217.2 million USD, up 11.7%; the export value of aquatic products reached 4.11 billion USD, up 15.1%; the export value of forestry products reached 7.48 billion USD, up 11.7%; the export value of inputs for production reached 938.7 million USD, up 24.3%; the export value of salt reached 4.6 million USD, up 2.4 times.
By region, Asia is the largest export market for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products with a market share of 42%; The next largest markets are the Americas and Europe with market shares of 23% and 16.1%, respectively. The market shares of the two regions of Africa and Oceania are small, accounting for 3.3% and 1.3%, respectively.
Compared to the same period last year, the estimated export value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 5 months of 2025 to Asia increased by 1.8%; the Americas increased by 17.2%; Europe increased by 46.8%; Africa increased by 94.1%; and Oceania increased by 4.6%.
In terms of detailed markets, the United States with a market share of 20.5%, China with a market share of 17.3%, and Japan with a market share of 7.3%, are the three largest export markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam. Compared to the same period last year, the estimated export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam in the first 5 months of 2025 to the US market increased by 14.1%, China decreased by 0.2% and Japan increased by 25.9%.
Sharing with the press, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien said that in the coming time, the ministry will focus on developing domestic consumption and export markets.
Continue to handle market issues to facilitate the export of agricultural and fishery products to the markets: China, the United States, Japan, EU; Open new markets with great potential such as: Halal Muslim countries, Middle East, Africa... Take advantage of incentives from new generation free trade agreements (FTAs), especially CPTPP, EVFTA to boost the export of key agricultural, forestry and fishery products, support businesses in signing new export orders.
In addition, we will continue to monitor and grasp the price situation, supply of essential food and foodstuffs; coordinate with localities to support connection, promote processing and consumption of agricultural products. Organize information, market regulations and consumer tastes, connect consumption through the system of trade and agricultural counselors in markets, domestic retail distribution chains, e-commerce platforms for agricultural products in the harvest season, especially some main-season products such as lychee, longan, durian... OCOP products.
