 Wednesday, June 11,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's pepper exports are recording mixed developments as the volume decreased but the value skyrocketed.

The average export price increased by nearly 60%, becoming the main support for the pepper industry to maintain its growth momentum in turnover amid the continued decline in domestic supply.
Pepper exports increased sharply in value, decreased in output
In May, Vietnam exported 26,443 tonnes of pepper, reaching a turnover of 182.4 million USD, with an average price of 6,897 USD/tonne.
In the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnam's pepper export turnover reached 693 million USD, a sharp increase of 40.5% over the same period, although the total export volume decreased by 12%, reaching only more than 100,693 tonnes.
This is the information announced by the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) on June 7.
The average export price in the 5 months reached 6,882 USD/tonne, an increase of 59.6% over the same period last year. In May alone, Vietnam exported 26,443 tonnes of pepper, earning 182.4 million USD, with an average price of 6,897 USD/tonne.
The US was still Vietnam's largest pepper consumer market, but the export volume to this country in the first 5 months of the year decreased by 24.4%, to 23,024 tonnes (accounting for 22.9% of the market share). The next largest markets were India (7,565 tonnes), UAE (7,020 tonnes), Germany (6,252 tonnes) and China (5,963 tonnes).
Some of the leading pepper exporters during the period include Olam Vietnam, Phuc Sinh, Nedspice Vietnam, Tran Chau and Haprosimex JSC.
According to VPSA, pepper prices increased mainly due to stable international demand and limited domestic supply due to the decrease in pepper growing area in recent years.
