Vietnam's soybean imports in four months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's imports of all types of soybeans in the first four months of 2025 reached 703,374 tonnes, valued at nearly US$318.07 million.

The average price stood at US$452.1 per tonne. Compared to the first four months of 2024, this represents a 7.8% decrease in volume, a 22% decrease in value, and a 15.4% decrease in price.
In April of 2025 alone, soybean imports totaled 126,786 tonnes, equivalent to US$56.25 million, with an average price of US$443.7 per tonne. This indicates a significant 41.9% drop in both volume and value compared to March 2025, though the price saw a slight increase of 0.06%. Compared to April of 2024, the imports in April of 2025 also fell by 43.1% in volume, 49.5% in value, and 11.2% in price.
Vietnam's leading soybean import markets in the first four months of 2025
The United States remained the primary supplier of soybeans to Vietnam during the first four months of 2025, accounting for nearly 59% of both the total volume and value of soybean imports. Vietnam imported 414,134 tonnes from the US, valued at over US$186.89 million, with an average price of US$451.3 per tonne. This marks a strong 46.9% increase in volume and a 19.4% increase in value compared to the first four months of 2024, despite an 18.7% decrease in price.
For April of 2025, the imports from the US reached 51,203 tonnes, equivalent to US$22.51 million, at a price of US$439.7 per tonne. This was a 4.4% decrease in volume and a 5.4% decrease in value compared to March of 2025, with a slight 1.1% price drop. Compared to April 2024, imports from the US in April 2025 increased by 5.6% in volume, but decreased by 12.3% in value and 17% in price.
Brazil was the second-largest market, supplying 200,658 tonnes in the first four months of 2025, valued at US$88.45 million, with an average price of US$440.8 per tonne. Brazil accounted for 28.5% of the total volume and 27.8% of the total value of Vietnam's soybean imports. Compared to the first four months of 2024, imports from Brazil saw a sharp 51.2% decrease in volume, a 58% decrease in value, and a 14% decrease in price.
The imports of soybeans from Canada in the first four months of 2025 reached 58,471 tonnes, equivalent to US$29.32 million, at a price of US$501.4 per tonne. Canada represented 8.3% of the total volume and 9.2% of the total value of Vietnam's soybean imports. This shows a significant 71.7% increase in volume and a 37.7% increase in value compared to the first four months of 2024, despite a 19.8% decrease in price.
