Vietnam's corn imports in 4 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - The preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs showed that in the first four months of 2025, Vietnam imported over 3 million tonnes of corn of all types, valued at nearly US$775.17 million. The average price was US$258.2 per tonne.

Compared to the same period in 2024, this represents a 12.8% decrease in volume and an 11% decrease in value, but a 2% increase in price.
April of 2025 highlights
In April of 2025 alone, the country’s imports of corn reached 872,052 tonnes, equivalent to US$228.3 million, with an average price of US$261.8 per tonne. This marked a 34% increase in volume and a 31.8% increase in value compared to March of 2025, though the price decreased by 1.5%. When compared to April of 2024, the imports of corn in April of 2025 saw a 31.8% increase in volume, a 36% increase in value, and a 3.1% increase in price.
Key supplying markets
Argentina was the largest supplier of corn to Vietnam in the first four months of 2025, accounting for 40.2% of the total volume and 40.3% of the total value of corn imports. Vietnam imported 1.21 million tonnes from Argentina, valued at over US$312.73 million, at an average price of US$259.3 per tonne. Compared to the first four months of 2024, the imports from Argentina decreased by 7.1% in volume and 1.2% in value, but the price increased by 6.3%.
In April of 2025 alone, the imports of corn from Argentina reached 370,331 tonnes, equivalent to US$95.83 million, at a price of US$258.8 per tonne. This was a 23.7% increase in volume and a 21.4% increase in value compared to March of 2025, though the price decreased by 1.9%. However, compared to April of 2024, imports from Argentina in April of 2025 saw a 35% decrease in volume and a 30.4% decrease in value, while the price increased by 7%.
Brazil was the second largest market, supplying over 1 million tonnes in the first four months of 2025, equivalent to US$250.17 million, at a price of US$249.4 per tonne. Brazil accounted for 33.4% of the total volume and 32.3% of the total value of Vietnam's corn imports. This represents a 32.5% decrease in volume, a 34.5% decrease in value, and a 2.9% decrease in price compared to the first four months of 2024.
The imports of corn from Laos in the first four months of 2025 reached 42,051 tonnes, equivalent to US$9.46 million, at a price of US$225 per tonne. Laos accounted for 1.4% of the total volume and 1.2% of the total value of corn imports. This was a 43.2% decrease in volume, a 49% decrease in value, and a 10.3% decrease in price compared to the first four months of 2024.
