Vietnam's fertilizer imports see significant growth in early 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's fertilizer imports in the first four months of 2025 experienced a notable increase in both volume and value.
During this period, the country imported 1.84 million tonnes of fertilizer, valued at over US$586.61 million, marking a 15.7% rise in volume and a 16% jump in value compared to the same period of 2024. The average import price was $318.8 per tonne, a slight increase of 0.3%.
In April of 2025 only, Vietnam imported 498,219 tonnes of fertilizer, worth of $158.61 million, with an average price of $318.4 per tonne. This represents a 3% increase in volume, a 10% increase in value, and a 6.9% increase in price compared to March of 2025. Compared to April of 2024, there was a slight 0.6% increase in volume, but a 2.8% decrease in value and a 3.4% decrease in price.
Vietnam’s key fertilizer import markets in the first four months of 2025
China remained the primary source of fertilizer for Vietnam, accounting for the largest share of imports, equivalent to 41.8% of total import volume (769,990 tonnes), and 32.9% of total import value ($192.82 million), the average price was $250.4 per tonne
Compared to the first four months of 2024, the imports of fertilizer from China increased by 16.8% in volume and 15.3% in value, though the average price saw a slight decrease of 1.3%.
Russia was the second-largest supplier with 248,334 tonnes, worth of $127.98 million and the average price of $515.4 per tonne
Imports from Russia grew by 2.6% in volume, 10.6% in value, and 7.8% in price.
Laos ranked third with 153,356 tonnes worth of $40.88 million, the average price: was $266.6 per tonne
The imports from Laos saw significant increases of 41.4% in volume and 39.9% in value, with a slight decrease of 1.1% in price.
