Vietnam-Thailand bilateral trade reached over 6.88 billion USD in 4 months

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Thailand in the first four months of 2025 reached nearly 6.88 billion USD, an increase of 11.2% compared to the same period of 2024.
Vietnam's exports of goods to Thailand in the first four months of 2025
According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in April of 2025, Vietnam's exports to Thailand reached a turnover of 564.6 million USD, a decrease of 31.5% compared to the previous month. In the first four months of 2025, the country’s total exports to Thailand reached 2.6 billion USD, an increase of 1.4% compared to the same period last year.
Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest export market within ASEAN, accounting for over 20% of Vietnam's total merchandise exports to the bloc.
Vietnam's export goods to Thailand include: machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts; computers, electronic products and components; telephones and components; crude oil; vehicles and spare parts.
The leading export commodity in the first four months of 2025 was computers, electronic products and components, reaching 475.4 million USD, an increase of 103.9%, accounting for 17.7% of the total export proportion. This was followed by machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts, reaching 339 million USD, an increase of 12.6%, accounting for 12.6% of the proportion. Some commodities saw an increase in export turnover compared to the same period last year include: seafood, up by 34.4%; coffee, up by 46%; iron and steel of all kinds, up by 64.6%; chemicals, up by 103%; pepper, up by 61.9%; precious stones, precious metals and products, up by 206%.
Vietnam’s imports of goods from Thailand in the first four months of 2025
Vietnam’s imports of goods from Thailand reached over 4.2 billion USD, up by 18.5% compared to the first four months of 2024. In April of 2025 alone, the import value decreased by 7.2% compared to March of 2025, reaching nearly 1.1 billion USD, but increased by 16.9% compared to April of 2024.
The leading import commodity group from Thailand was computers, electronic products and components, reaching over 545.34 million USD, accounting for 13% of the total import turnover of all kinds of goods from this market, a sharp increase of 39.8% compared to the first four months of 2024.
The group of completely built-up (CBU) automobiles imported from Thailand ranked second in turnover, reaching nearly 465.37 million USD, accounting for 11.1% of the total turnover, a sharp increase of 74.6%. This was followed by the group of household electrical appliances and components, reaching over 423.33 million USD, accounting for 10.1% of the total turnover, an increase of 29.6%; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts, reaching over 329.85 million USD, accounting for 7.9% of the total turnover, an increase of 21%; and auto parts and components, reaching over 236.97 million USD, accounting for 5.6%, an increase of 16.6%.
