Vietnam's exports to UK increased in 4 months of 2025
Monday, May 12,2025
AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's merchandise exports to the UK market reached US$2.5 billion in the first four months of 2025, an increase of 2.8% compared to the same period last year.
The UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) has become a bridge bringing Vietnam's strong products to the UK market, helping to increase bilateral trade turnover. Notably, it is recorded that the presence of various Vietnamese goods brands across different product groups ranges from 12% to 19%. The main export items include textiles and garments, footwear, various types of machinery, and seafood, with textiles and garments, footwear, and agricultural and aquatic products being the major beneficiaries.
With the tariff reduction roadmap of the UKVFTA, Vietnamese goods are gradually gaining a significant advantage over similar products from other countries that do not have an FTA with the UK.
Regarding state management agencies, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also recommends that Vietnamese enterprises exporting to the UK need to carefully check information about the market, businesses, and partners to avoid cases of fraud and scams.
On the other hand, businesses need to strictly control the entire production process, ensuring traceability, food safety, and hygiene quality; clearly identify market segments; and conduct in-depth research on consumer tastes and market trends.
The leading export commodity group in the first four months of 2025 was telephones and components, reaching $411.8 million, a decrease of 19.8% compared to the same month last year, accounting for 16.2% of the total export value. This was followed by machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts, reaching $352.3 million, a decrease of 23.8%, accounting for 13.8% of the total export value.
In the first four months of 2025, some commodities experienced significant export growth compared to the same period last year, such as computers, electronic products, and components increased by 53.4%; pepper increased by 97.8%; and vegetables and fruits increased by 66.8%.
