DAILY: Export rice prices increased slightly on May 9, 2025

AsemconnectVietnam -  According to Kinhtedothi, Vietnam’s rice export prices saw a slight increase of 1 USD/ton for 5% broken rice on May 9, 2025.

Market supply is limited, prices for various rice types remain stable, and fresh paddy prices are holding firm. In the Mekong Delta, rice prices fluctuated slightly today. Paddy trading was sluggish due to limited supply, and prices showed a downward trend.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province:
  • OM 380 fresh paddy decreased by 200 VND/kg to 5,600–5,900 VND/kg
  • IR 50404 fresh paddy down 200 VND/kg to 5,400–5,700 VND/kg
  • OM 5451 fresh paddy: 6,200–6,400 VND/kg
  • OM 18 fresh paddy: 6,800–7,000 VND/kg
  • Dai Thom 8 fresh paddy: 6,900–7,000 VND/kg
  • Nang Hoa 9: 6,650–6,750 VND/kg
Across various provinces, market activity was slow:
  • In Dong Thap: Summer-Autumn paddy prices held steady, but trading was limited.
  • In An Giang: Early Summer-Autumn harvest was minimal, trading slow, prices stable.
  • In Long An: Farmers offered steady prices, but new deals were rare.
  • In Kien Giang: Prices were stable, but market was quiet.
Rice Prices (An Giang):
  • OM 380 raw rice: up 200 VND/kg, 7,950–8,050 VND/kg
  • IR 504 raw rice: 8,200–8,250 VND/kg
  • CL 555 raw rice: 8,600–8,800 VND/kg
  • OM 18 raw rice: 10,200–10,400 VND/kg
  • OM 5451 raw rice: 9,600–9,750 VND/kg
  • OM 380 finished rice: 8,800–9,000 VND/kg
  • IR 504 finished rice: 9,500–9,700 VND/kg
By-products:
  • By-product prices ranged from 7,150 to 9,000 VND/kg
  • OM 5451 broken rice: 7,350–7,450 VND/kg
  • Rice bran: 8,000–9,000 VND/kg
Local Market Trends:
  • 50404 and OM 380 varieties remained in short supply, with stable prices.
  • In An Giang: rice deliveries trickled in, mills bought selectively at steady prices.
  • In Lap Vo (Dong Thap): slow inflow, rice prices stable.
  • In Sa Dec market (Dong Thap): limited supply, big mills bought quality rice at steady prices.
  • In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang): better inflow, but slow trading, stable prices.
Retail Market Prices:
Prices remained unchanged from yesterday.
  • Nang Nhen: highest retail price at 28,000 VND/kg
  • Common rice: 13,000–15,000 VND/kg
  • Jasmine fragrant rice: 16,000–18,000 VND/kg
  • Common white rice: 16,000 VND/kg
  • Soc rice: 17,000 VND/kg
  • Thai long grain fragrant rice: 20,000–22,000 VND/kg
  • Huong Lai: 22,000 VND/kg
  • Nang Hoa: 21,000 VND/kg
  • Taiwanese fragrant rice: 20,000 VND/kg
  • Thai Soc rice: 20,000 VND/kg
  • Japanese rice: 22,000 VND/kg
Export Market:
Vietnam's rice export prices were mostly stable compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA):
  • 5% broken rice: 398 USD/tonne (up 1 USD/tonne)
  • 25% broken rice: 368 USD/tonne
  • 100% broken rice: 323 USD/tonne
