AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic rice prices remained steady on April 26 as trading activity slowed due to many traders taking time off for the holiday. In the Mekong Delta, prices were largely unchanged with limited supply and low market activity.
In An Giang province, prices for fresh paddy were as follows:
- OM 18 and Dai Thom 8: 6,900 – 7,050 VND/kg
- OM 5451: 6,500 – 6,700 VND/kg
- IR 50404: 5,800 – 6,000 VND/kg
- OM 380: 5,900 – 6,000 VND/kg
- Nang Hoa 9: 6,650 – 6,750 VND/kg
Early Summer-Autumn rice harvesting is gradually beginning in several provinces:
- In Kien Giang: Prices held steady, but trading was slow.
- In Long An: Low supply, sporadic purchasing mainly for pre-contracted paddy.
- In An Giang: Limited supply, farmers offered higher prices, but demand remained weak.
- In Bac Lieu: Trading activity was quiet, with most aromatic rice already contracted.
For rice:
- OM 18 raw rice: 10,200 – 10,400 VND/kg
- IR 504 raw rice: 8,050 – 8,200 VND/kg
- OM 380 raw rice: 7,700 – 7,850 VND/kg
- OM 5451 raw rice: 9,600 – 9,750 VND/kg
- OM 380 finished rice: 8,800 – 9,000 VND/kg
- IR 504 finished rice: 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg
By-products:
- Broken aromatic rice: 7,450 – 7,600 VND/kg
- Rice bran: 8,000 – 9,000 VND/kg
Local rice markets saw limited supply and stable prices with slow transactions.
- In An Giang: Slow trading, good-quality rice held its price.
- In Lap Vo (Dong Thap) and Sa Dec market: Small volumes, stable prices.
- In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang): Modest activity, stable prices.
Retail rice prices were also unchanged from the previous day:
- Nang Nhen rice: up to 28,000 VND/kg
- Common rice: 13,000 – 15,000 VND/kg
- Jasmine fragrant rice: 16,000 – 18,000 VND/kg
- Regular white rice: 16,000 VND/kg
- Soc rice: ~17,000 VND/kg
- Long-grain Thai fragrant rice: 20,000 – 22,000 VND/kg
- Huong Lai rice: 22,000 VND/kg
- Nang Hoa rice: 21,000 VND/kg
- Taiwanese fragrant rice: 20,000 VND/kg
- Thai Soc rice: 20,000 VND/kg
- Japanese rice: 22,000 VND/kg
Export Market:
Export rice prices from Vietnam were unchanged. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA):
