DAILY: Domestic pepper prices slightly decreased on April 23, 2025

 Wednesday, April 23,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, domestic pepper prices ranged from 154,000 to 155,000 VND/kg on April 23, 2025. Prices dropped by 500 VND/kg in some Southeastern provinces, while remaining stable in other localities compared to yesterday. This marks the second consecutive day of decline since the beginning of the week.

There is a notable disparity in yields across different regions this year. However, sustainably managed and well-invested farms continue to deliver high and stable productivity. The domestic harvest has already concluded.
Prices by locality:
• Dak Lak: 155,000 VND/kg
• Dak Nong: 155,000 VND/kg
• Gia Lai: 154,000 VND/kg
• Dong Nai: 154,000 VND/kg (down 500 VND/kg)
• Ba Ria – Vung Tau: 154,000 VND/kg
• Binh Phuoc: 154,000 VND/kg
Global Market and Forecast
In its latest monthly report, Nedspice estimated that this year’s harvest is on par with last year, but will likely fall short of export demand. While yields vary significantly by region, sustainable farms still perform well.
Nedspice also reported that global production is expected to decline further in 2025, to an estimated 434,000 tons. This is mainly due to reduced cultivation areas and adverse conditions in India.
Although Brazil has expanded its pepper cultivation area, unfavorable weather continues to hinder expected output gains.
With global demand remaining strong and significantly outpacing supply, Nedspice forecasts that pepper prices are more likely to rise than fall in the near future.
Domestic Market Factors
In Vietnam, although the harvest season has ended, the increased supply is putting downward pressure on local prices. In addition, many Vietnamese enterprises have taken advantage of the 90-day U.S. tariff suspension to secure new export contracts, which is also contributing to the recent decline in domestic prices.
