Fertilizer imports increased by over 22% in first 3 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 3 months of 2025, fertilizer imports reached 1.35 million tonnes, worth of over 430.27 million USD, up by 20.5% in volume, up by 22.3% in value compared to the first 3 months of 2024.
According to the preliminary data from the General Department of Customs, in March of 2025, Vietnam imported 483,818 tonnes of fertilizer, worth of 144.15 million USD, with an average price of 297.9 USD/tonne, down by 1.7% in volume, but up by 2.1% in turnover and up by 3.8% in price compared to February of 2025. In comparison to March of 2024, it increased sharply by 12.8% in volume, up by 16.9% in turnover and up by 3.6% in price.
In the first 3 months of 2025, fertilizer imports reached 1.35 million tonnes, worth of over 430.27 million USD, with an average price of 318.8 USD/tonne, up by 20.5% in volume, 22.3% in turnover and 1.5% in price compared to the first 3 months of 2024. Vietnam's fertilizer imports were mostly from the Chinese market, accounting for 43.1% in volume and 33.7% in turnover of the country's total fertilizer imports, reaching 581,619 tonnes, worth of 144.83 million USD, with an average price of 249 USD/tonne; increased by 24.7% in volume, increased by 39% in turnover and increased by 11.5% in price compared to the first 3 months of 2024.
Russian market ranked second with 142,174 tonnes, worth of 82.68 million USD, the average price was 581.5 USD/tonne; increased by 1.2% in volume, but decreased by 1.4% in turnover and decreased by 2.6% in price. The next was the Lao market with 101,392 tonnes, worth of 26.45 million USD, average price was 260.9 USD/tonne; increased by 21% in volume, increased by 16.3% in turnover but decreased by 3.9% in price.
Notably, fertilizer imports from Norway increased sharply compared to the same period last year, up by 161% in volume, up by 193.9% in value, reaching 22,479 tonnes, worth of 13.35 million USD. Fertilizer imports from the RCEP FTA market in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 865,694 tonnes, worth of 216.64 million USD, up 19.6% in volume, up by 26.3% in value compared to the first 3 months of 2024. Fertilizer imports from the CPTPP FTA market reached 157,806 tonnes, worth of 33.29 million USD, up by 1.8% in volume, up by 1.7% in value. Fertilizer imports from the Southeast Asian market reached 153,936 tonnes, worth of 43.8 million USD, up by 15% in volume and 2.2% in value over the same period of 2024.
