Soybean import markets in first 3 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, soybean imports of all kinds in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 576,475 tonnes, worth of nearly 261.9 million USD, with an average price of 454.3 USD/tonne, up by 6.8% in volume, but down by 11.7% in turnover and down by 17.3% in price compared to the first 3 months of 2024.
In particular, in March of 2025 alone, it reached 218,175 tonnes, equivalent to 96.74 million USD, with an average price of 443.4 USD/tonne, up by 26.1% in volume, up by 22.1% in turnover but down by 3.1% in price compared to February of 2025. In comparison to March of 2024, it increased by 8.6% in volume, but decreased by 6.6% in turnover and decreased by 14% in price.
The US was the main market supplying soybeans to Vietnam in the first 3 months of 2025, accounting for nearly 63% of the total volume and total soybean import turnover of the country, reaching 362,931 tonnes, equivalent to over 164.37 million USD, the average price is 452.9 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 55.6% in volume, an increase of 25.7% in turnover but a decrease of 19.2% in price compared to the first 3 months of 2024. In March of 2025 alone reached 53,541 tonnes, equivalent to 23.8 million USD, the price was at 444.5 USD/tonne, down by 59.7% in volume, down by 60.2% in turnover compared to February of 2025 and the price slightly decreased by 1.2%. In comparison to March of 2024, it also decreased 6.6% in volume, down by 24% in turnover and price decreased by 18.6%. The second largest market was Brazil, in the first 3 months of 2025, it reached 129,792 tonnes, equivalent to 57.38 million USD, priced at 442.1 USD/tonne, accounting for 22.5% of the total volume and 21.9% of the total soybean import turnover of the whole country, down sharply by 52.6% in volume, down by 60.5% in turnover and down by 16.6% in price compared to the first 3 months of 2024.
Soybean imports from the Canadian market in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 54,617 tonnes, equivalent to 27.32 million USD, priced at 500.1 USD/tonne, accounting for 9.5% of the total volume and 10.4% of the total soybean import turnover of the whole country, up sharply by 98.9% in volume, up by 60.2% in turnover but down by 19.4% in price compared to the first 3 months year of 2024
