On April 8, 2025, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued an Action Plan for development of the industry in coming time with a growth target of 4% or more and an export turnover of 65 billion USD.
Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy said that the Ministry's viewpoint is to unify thinking and action within the Ministry and entire industry, together making efforts and determination to synchronously implement groups of tasks and solutions to ensure completion of the industry's growth target and total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products in 2025 assigned by the Government.
Action plan must be determined to be clear, specific, feasible, easy to check, monitor and evaluate; assignment of tasks must ensure 5 clarity: "Clear people, clear work, clear responsibilities, clear products and clear completion time".
According to the leader of Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first quarter of 2025, growth of entire agricultural sector reached 3.7%. To achieve the industry's growth target for the whole year of 4.0-4.2%, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has set targets for the remaining quarters of the year. Accordingly, the second quarter of 2025 will reach 4.1%; The third quarter reaches 4.2%, the fourth quarter reaches 3.9%.
Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also set targets for each sector. Specifically, for agricultural sector, the second quarter of 2025 reaches 3.89%; the third quarter reaches 4.1%; the fourth quarter reaches 3.75%; the whole year reaches 3.85%. For the forestry sector, the second quarter reached 5.22%; the third quarter reached 5.06%; the fourth quarter reached 5.25%; the whole year reached 5.47%. For the fishery sector, the second quarter reached 4.07%; the third quarter reached 3.97%; the fourth quarter reached 3.89%; the whole year reached 4.35%. Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy also assigned tasks to each Deputy Minister in charge.
Regarding exports, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in March 2025 is estimated to reach 6.14 billion USD, bringing total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in the first quarter of 2025 to 15.72 billion USD, up 13.1% over the same period in 2024. To achieve an export figure of 64-65 billion USD this year and aim for 70 billion USD, the leaders of Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also set targets for each group of goods. Specifically, coffee reached 5.5 billion USD, rubber reached 3.3 billion USD, tea reached 270 million USD, rice reached 5.7 billion USD, vegetables and fruits reached 7.6 billion USD, cashew nuts reached 4.5 billion USD, pepper reached 1.35 billion USD, cassava and cassava products reached 1.3 billion USD, livestock reached 550 million USD, seafood reached 10.5 billion USD, wood and forestry products reached 18.5 billion USD, other products reached 5.88 billion USD.
