Domestic rice prices remained stable on April 14, 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhte & Dothi, domestic rice prices remained stable on April 14 in the Mekong Delta region due to slow trading activity, with limited volume.

According to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, there were no fluctuations in the prices of both fresh paddy and rice.
Specifically, the price of OM 18 fresh paddy ranged between 6,800–6,900 VND/kg; fresh Dai Thom 8 paddy was 6,900–7,000 VND/kg; OM 5451 fresh paddy was 6,200–6,400 VND/kg; IR 50404 fresh paddy was 5,800–6,000 VND/kg; OM 380 fresh paddy stood at 6,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 paddy was priced between 6,550–6,750 VND/kg. Reports from various localities indicated slow trading with stable prices. In Long An, trading was quiet with steady paddy prices. In An Giang and Can Tho, trading of fresh paddy remained slow with stable prices. In Tra Vinh, farmers reduced their paddy offerings, and transactions continued to slow. In Bac Lieu, the price of ST variety fresh paddy stayed high, but buyers were limited; much of the fragrant paddy area had already been pre-booked. In An Giang, raw IR 504 rice was priced between 7,850–8,000 VND/kg; raw OM 380 rice at 7,700–7,850 VND/kg; raw 5451 rice at 9,600–9,750 VND/kg; finished OM 380 rice at 8,800–9,000 VND/kg; and finished IR 504 rice at 9,500–9,700 VND/kg.
For by-products, prices ranged from 6,600–9,000 VND/kg. Broken rice (3-4%) increased by 100 VND/kg to 6,650–6,800 VND/kg; bran prices ranged between 8,000–9,000 VND/kg.
In various localities, trading remained slow. In An Giang, the trading volume was low, with warehouse purchases moving sluggishly but prices holding steady. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), volumes were low, and warehouses were buying slowly at stable prices.
At Sa Dec market (Dong Thap), trading volume was sporadic, and purchasing remained slow at steady prices. At An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), volumes were low with slow warehouse buying and stable prices.
In retail markets, rice prices were unchanged compared to the previous day. Ordinary rice was priced between 15,500–16,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice was the highest at 28,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice ranged from 20,000–22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice was 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice was priced at 18,000–20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 22,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg; standard white rice at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice at 18,000 VND/kg; Thai Soc rice at 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.
On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained unchanged from the previous day. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price for 5% broken rice was 397 USD/ton; 25% broken rice was 369 USD/ton; and 100% broken rice was 317 USD/ton.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s rice exports in March 2025 reached 950,000 tons, valued at approximately 463.6 million USD. Cumulatively in the first three months of 2025, Vietnam exported 2.2 million tons of rice, earning 1.14 billion USD — an increase of 0.6% in volume but a decrease of 19.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
