Preventing origin fraud, Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends strict management of raw materials for export production

To prevent origin fraud, Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that industry associations and export enterprises strengthen management of raw materials for export production.
Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued Document No.2515/BCT-XNK dated April 10, 2025 on strengthening management of imported raw materials for production of export goods.
The document sent to export industry associations, manufacturing and exporting enterprises clearly states that current international trade situation is developing rapidly and unpredictably in context of the United States applying tariff policies to many countries in the world, including Vietnam. To proactively adapt to new situation, for harmonious interests of Vietnam with its partners without affecting production and export activities of Vietnamese enterprises, Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that export industry associations, manufacturing and exporting enterprises pay attention to a number of contents.
For export industry associations, closely coordinate with state management agencies to promptly provide information on policy mechanisms and international trade market movements to advise and guide member enterprises to proactively develop plans in production and export. In addition, be focal point to support member enterprises to expand and diversify supply of input materials for export production, limiting dependence on a single imported raw material market. Recommend that member enterprises pay attention to ensuring origin of input materials for production, meeting requirements of importing countries on food hygiene and safety, traceability and avoiding fraud of goods origin. For export enterprises, proactively develop plans to adapt to new international trade situation by seeking customers and partners from import markets with much room and potential for exploitation and development. Note to consider the supply of raw materials for production of export goods, ensure requirements of importers, traceability of products and origin of exported goods.
After the first quarter of 2025, import and export of goods is still a bright spot in the national economic picture. According to General Statistics Office - Ministry of Finance, import and export turnover of goods in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 202.52 billion USD, up 13.7% over the same period last year.
Of which, export turnover of goods reached 102.84 billion USD, up 10.6% over the same period last year. Import turnover of goods reached 99.68 billion USD, up 17.0% over the same period last year.
