 Friday, April 11,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam pepper prices ranged between 148,000 - 150,000 VND/kg on April 11, 2025, according to Kinhtedothi.

 Pepper prices early this morning rose by 2,000 VND/kg in Đắk Lắk and Đắk Nông, and by 1,000 VND/kg in other regions compared to the same time yesterday morning. The market successfully reclaimed the 150,000 VND/kg mark after the U.S. decision to delay the tariff application by 90 days.
In Đắk Lắk province: 150,000 VND/kg, up by 2,000 VND/kg.
In Đắk Nông province:150,000 VND/kg, up by 2,000 VND/kg.
In Gia Lai province: 148,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, in Đồng Nai province: 148,500 VND/kg, up by 1,000 VND/kg.
In Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu province: 149,000 VND/kg, up by 1,000 VND/kg.
In Bình Phước province: 149,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in February 2025, the U.S. imported 5,942 tons of pepper, down 33.3% compared to January. Of this, the majority came from Vietnam with 3,296 tons, followed by Indonesia with 1,142 tons.
Cumulatively, by the end of February 2025, the U.S.'s pepper imports reached 14,846 tons, a 5.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Vietnam remains the leading supplier to the U.S., holding a 60.9% market share with 9,045 tons, although this is a decrease of 18.6% year-on-year. Indonesia follows with a 20.3% share at 3,007 tons, a remarkable 230.8% increase. India ranks third with a 9.2% share, supplying 628 tons, up 31.5% compared to the same period.
The association notes that prices may decline at the moment because the U.S. and some countries are requesting shipment restrictions. However, in the next 1–2 months, prices are expected to be determined mainly by farmers. Therefore, it is advised to only sell enough to meet immediate cash needs rather than sell off inventory, preserving stock for potential price increases.
From now until the end of the year, supply and demand will continue to be the decisive factors. Whether or not the U.S. imposes retaliatory tariffs on Vietnam, the global market still faces a supply shortage, suggesting that prices may rise again.
At the latest session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the following pepper prices:
• Black pepper Lampung (Indonesia) closed at 7,147 USD/ton, up 0.97%;
• Black pepper Brazil ASTA 570 stood at 6,800 USD/ton;
• Black pepper Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA was at 9,850 USD/ton;
• White pepper Muntok (Indonesia) at 9,805 USD/ton, up 0.97%;
• White pepper Malaysia ASTA at 12,300 USD/ton.
Vietnamese black pepper was traded at 6,600 USD/ton for 500 g/l type and 6,800 USD/ton for 550 g/l type, while white pepper was priced at 9,600 USD/ton. IPC has raised pepper prices again for Indonesia.
