Vietnam’s imports of goods from US increased in first quarter of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of goods from the US reached nearly 4.1 billion USD in the first 3 months of 2025, an increase of 21.01% over the same period of 2024.
In March of 2025 alone, the turnover increased by 4.64% compared to February of 2025, reaching over 1.5 billion USD and also increased by 27.62% compared to March of 2024.
The imports of goods from the US market accounted for 4.11% of the total import turnover of the country. The largest group of imported goods from the US in the first 3 months of 2025 was computers, electronic products and components, reaching over 1.36 billion USD, accounting for 33.21% of the total import turnover of goods of all kinds from this market, up by 42.92% over the same period of 2024. The group of cotton from the US ranked second in terms of turnover, reaching 275.57 million USD, accounting for 6.73% of the total turnover, a sharp increase of 61.35%. The next was the group of raw plastic goods reaching 246.04 million USD, accounting for 6.01% of the total turnover, an increase of 38.26%; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts reached 240.73 million USD, accounting for 5.88%, up by 5.51%
The imports of goods from the US in the first 3 months of this year mostly increased in turnover compared to the same period in 2024. Notably, some groups of goods, although their turnover was not high, increased sharply compared to the same period, such as confectionery and cereal products increased by 724.32%, reaching 13.35 million USD; iron and steel products increased by 44.55%, reaching 25.56 million USD; vegetables and fruits increased by 55.39%, reaching 160.19 million USD
