Market Outlook
At the end of last week’s trading session, coffee prices dropped sharply due to forecasts of rain in Brazil this week. This news pushed Arabica coffee prices to their lowest level in two weeks.
Meteorological agency Somar Meteorologia has predicted widespread showers next week in Minas Gerais, Brazil’s largest Arabica coffee-producing region, easing concerns about drought conditions.
Technically, Robusta coffee prices are entering a downtrend cycle, with expectations of significant fluctuations in the current price range this week.
According to the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV), supply and demand factors play a key role in commodity price movements. Coffee prices are currently under pressure due to a decline in global coffee exports.
The latest report from the International Coffee Organization (ICO) shows that global coffee exports in January fell by 13.3% to 10.8 million bags, compared to 12.4 million bags in the same period last year.
Notably:
  • Green coffee bean exports dropped 14.2% to 11.32 million bags, marking the third consecutive month of decline.
  • Arabica coffee exports fell 2.5%, to 6.665 million bags, a decline of 171,000 bags.
Market experts predict that the downward trend will continue this week.
