 Monday, March 17,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the UK market in the first two months of 2025 reached 1.2 billion USD, down by 0.7% compared to the same period last year.

The UKVFTA has become a bridge to bring Vietnam's strong goods to the UK market, helping to increase bilateral trade turnover. In particular, it is noted that the presence of Vietnamese goods brands varies by product group, reaching from 12% - 19%. The main export items were textiles, footwear, mechanical products, aquatic products, of which textiles, footwear, agricultural and aquatic products benefit the most.
With the tariff reduction roadmap of the UKVFTA, Vietnamese goods are gradually gaining a prominent advantage over similar products from other countries that do not have an FTA with the UK.
On the part of state management agencies, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also recommends that Vietnamese enterprises exporting to the UK need to carefully look up information about the market, enterprises, and partners to avoid being scammed and cheated.
On the other hand, enterprises need to strictly control the entire production process, ensure traceability, food hygiene and safety quality, etc.; clearly identify market segments; conduct in-depth research on market tastes and trends.
The leading export item in the first two months of 2025 was the group of phones of all kinds and components, reaching 276.3 million USD, down 16.4% compared to the same month last year, accounting for 22% of the export proportion. Next is the group of other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, reaching 175.09 million USD, down by 31.7%, accounting for 13.9% of the export proportion.
In the first two months of 2025, some items had a significant increase in export turnover compared to the same period last year, such as computers, electronic products and components increased by 69.9%; pepper increased by 125.1%; electric wires and cables increased by 57%.
