Coffee Prices Today, March 11, 2025: Robusta Rises Again, Domestic Prices Exceed 130,000 VND/kg

 Tuesday, March 11,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinh tế & Đô thị, domestic coffee prices on March 11, 2025, range from 130,800 to 131,800 VND/kg, increased compared to the previous day. The two major coffee exchanges showed mixed trends at the start of the week: Robusta prices rebounded, while Arabica saw a slight decline in near-term contracts but increased in longer-term contracts. A weaker USD has supported coffee prices.

• In Lâm Đồng (Di Linh, Lâm Hà, Bảo Lộc): 130,800 VND/kg.
• In Đắk Lắk (Cư M'gar): 131,800 VND/kg; (Ea H'leo, Buôn Hồ): 131,700 VND/kg.
• In Đắk Nông (Gia Nghĩa): 131,800 VND/kg; (Đắk R'lấp): 131,700 VND/kg.
• In Gia Lai (Chư Prông): 131,600 VND/kg; (Pleiku, La Grai): 131,500 VND/kg.
• In Kon Tum: 131,500 VND/kg.
On the London market, Robusta futures for May 2025 rose by $22/ton to $5,375/ton, while the July 2025 contract increased by $24/ton to $5,342/ton. Meanwhile, on the New York market, Arabica for May 2025 dropped by 0.4 cents/lb to 384 cents/lb, while the July 2025 contract gained 0.45 cents/lb to 377.7 cents/lb.
A weak USD has supported coffee prices, but rising inventory levels on the New York exchange have limited Arabica's upward momentum.
Global coffee markets, like other trading platforms, are closely watching trade tensions following U.S. President Donald Trump's new tariffs on major trade partners, amid concerns over a potential U.S. economic downturn.
In Vietnam, the 9th Buôn Ma Thuột Coffee Festival is taking place from March 9–13, 2025, in Buôn Ma Thuột City and several locations in Đắk Lắk province. The festival, a national event, includes 17 key activities celebrating coffee growers and processors. It is often called the "New Year" for coffee producers.
With the theme "Buôn Ma Thuột – The World's Coffee Destination", the festival provides an excellent opportunity for managers, businesses, and investors to meet, exchange ideas, and promote the Buôn Ma Thuột coffee brand globally. Among the festival’s highlights, the International Trade & Business Matching Conference has attracted significant interest from various countries, coffee experts, producers, and exporters.
The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, themed "Buon Ma Thuot – Destination of World Coffee," opened on March 10 in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasised that the festival not only honour Vietnamese coffee—symbolising creativity and success—but also serves as a globally significant forum where coffee producing and consuming nations come together to shape a shared vision for a sustainable coffee industry.
Dak Lak, long recognised as Vietnam’s coffee capital, has the potential to emerge as one of the leading coffee hubs in the region and the world. The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee brand and its geographical indication have already reached over 80 countries and territories. However, the Vietnamese coffee industry faces several challenges, including inconsistent quality, limited deep processing, and a lack of product diversity that aligns with market preferences.
To address these challenges, Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha urged ministries, authorities in coffee-growing regions, the Vietnam Coffee Cocoa Association (VICOFA), and businesses engaged in coffee production, processing, and trading to share a unified strategic vision and promote close coordination. He called for the development of high-quality, low-emission coffee cultivation areas, the application of advanced technologies in production and processing, investment in research to develop drought- and pest-resistant coffee varieties.
