 Friday, March 7,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Information at regular Government meeting in February 2025, import and export turnover in the first 2 months increased by 12% over the same period. Out of which, trade surplus is estimated at 1.47 billion USD.

Specifically, at regular Government meeting in February 2025 held on the morning of March 5, report of Ministry of Finance showed that socio-economic situation in the first 2 months achieved many positive results, better than the previous month and the same period last year; people, businesses, domestic and foreign investors, financial institutions, international credit rating organizations...increased their confidence in prospects of economy.
Notably, positive results of import and export activities are noteworthy. Accordingly, import and export turnover in the first 2 months increased by 12% over the same period, of which trade surplus is estimated at 1.47 billion USD.
This is a remarkable result, demonstrating great efforts of ministries, branches and enterprises. Before that, total import-export turnover of goods in January 2025 only reached 63.15 billion USD, down 10.5% compared to the previous month and down 3.5% compared to the same period last year.
Regarding key export items, despite many difficulties, agriculture, forestry and fishery products are still a bright spot, with export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products in the first two months of 2025 reaching 9.38 billion USD, up 8.3% over the same period in 2024. Of which, export value of agricultural products reached 4.89 billion USD, up 4.5%.
Notably, there are agricultural products that have recorded very strong growth. Specifically, total volume and value of coffee exports in the first two months of 2025 reached 284,000 tonnes and reached a value of 1.58 billion USD, down 28.4% in volume but up 26.2% in value compared to the same period in 2024. Average export price of coffee in the first two months of 2025 is estimated at 5,574.5 USD/tonne, up 76.3% over the same period in 2024. This year, coffee exports are expected to reach 6 billion USD.
It is not easy to increase import and export growth by 12% for whole year of 2025. To achieve this goal in the coming time, Ministry of Industry and Trade has determined to support businesses to take advantage of commitments in FTAs to boost exports, through propaganda on rules of origin, opportunities and ways to take advantage of opportunities from the agreements.
In addition, strengthen activities to provide market information on digital platforms for localities, industry associations and businesses.
For neighboring markets, Ministry of Industry and Trade has been making efforts to promote rapid and strong transition to official trade.
The Government also pays special attention to import and export activities. Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No.393/QD-TTg dated February 24, 2025 approving Master Plan for construction of Chi Ma border gate area, Loc Binh district, Lang Son province until 2045.
Goal of master plan for construction of Chi Ma main border gate area, Lang Son province until 2045 is to build Chi Ma main border gate area into a dynamic, effective, international economic zone, an important growth pole in the East of Lang Son province. Developing Chi Ma border gate aims to promote import and export activities of goods.
