Domestic Pepper Market on March 5: Farmers Entering New Harvest Season
Wednesday, March 5,2025
AsemconnectVietnam - Domestic pepper prices today range from 157,000 to 159,200 VND/kg. Despite having a much smaller cultivation area compared to key crops like coffee, rubber, tea, and cashews, the pepper industry brings significant economic value.
Export Market Trends
The potential for pepper and spices remains strong in 2025 and beyond. In the U.S. retail market, the spice industry has grown from $5 billion before the COVID-19 pandemic to $7 billion last year, and it is expected to continue increasing due to the growing trend of home cooking. Asian and Mexican cuisine are expanding rapidly, driving further demand for spices.
At the Vietnam International Pepper and Spices Conference 2025 (VIPO 2025) held earlier this week, Mike Liu, Chairman of the China Spice Association (CSA), stated that China seeks opportunities for cooperation with Vietnamese businesses in production, processing, and exports. China remains a key market for Vietnamese pepper and spices, with rising import demand.
According to Nguyễn Quý Dương, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), Vietnam has favorable climatic and soil conditions, making it the world's largest producer and exporter of pepper.
