Live Hog Prices on March 5, 2025: Scattered Increases in Many Areas

AsemconnectVietnam - The live hog market continued to record price increases in several localities this morning.
In the Northern Region:
As of March 5, live hog prices reached 76,000 VND/kg in Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, and Thai Binh. Prices in Tuyen Quang and Vinh Phuc increased by 1,000 VND/kg to 75,000 VND/kg, while other localities remained stable within the range of 73,000 – 75,000 VND/kg.
In the Central and Central Highlands Regions:
Prices increased by 1,000 VND/kg in Nghe An, Hue, Binh Dinh, and Dak Lak. The region's live hog prices now range between 73,000 – 80,000 VND/kg, with Lam Dong and Binh Thuan having the highest prices at 80,000 VND/kg.
In the Southern Region:
The southern market paused its sharp upward trend, with only Dong Thap increasing by 1,000 VND/kg to 80,000 VND/kg. Overall, live hog prices in the South range from 78,000 – 81,000 VND/kg, the highest in the country.
African Swine Fever Detected in Seven Districts of Long An Province
According to the Long An Department of Livestock Production, Animal Health, and Fisheries, African swine fever (ASF) has been detected in 11 farms across 10 communes in 7 districts, leading to the culling of 388 pigs (15,860.6 kg in total).
To mitigate losses, the province has implemented preventive measures, including vaccine distribution. Since the beginning of the year, Long An has administered over 1.26 million doses of vaccines for various livestock diseases. Authorities are also strengthening public awareness and biosecurity practices while conducting environmental disinfection and disease surveillance.
