Vietnam's exports to some ASEAN markets in January of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - In January of 2025, Vietnam's goods exports to some ASEAN countries such as Thailand and Singapore recorded an increase.

However, exports to Indonesia and Malaysia recorded a decrease.
Vietnam's exports of goods to the Thai market in January of 2025
According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's goods export turnover to the Thai market in January of 2025 reached 643.4 million USD, an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous month.
Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest goods export market in the ASEAN bloc, accounting for more than 20% of Vietnam's total goods export turnover to the bloc.
Vietnam exported 36 main items to this market in January of 2025, of which 5 items had an export value of 50 million USD or more. The item with the largest turnover was the group of phones of all kinds and components, reaching 99 million USD, up by 293% over the previous month, accounting for 15.4% of the proportion; followed by the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, reaching 89.5 million USD, up by 7.2% over the previous month, accounting for 13.9% of the proportion.
In January of 2025, some groups of items exported to Thailand increased compared to the previous month, such as chemicals increased by 812.9%; coal exports increased by 35.5%; electric wires and cables increased by 16.8%.
Nowadays, consumers are gradually changing their habits and moving towards green products, green goods, and environmentally friendly products. Consumers are also increasingly demanding on the quality and usefulness of products; have become "smart consumers" in choosing to buy products that meet their personal needs; especially prioritizing health associated with environmental protection responsibility.
Therefore, the increase in green consumption trends has urged manufacturers and retailers to make efforts to invest in transforming production and business models towards green and sustainable development by using clean energy, environmentally friendly materials, supporting social responsibility activities, investing in innovation of modern high-tech production lines, using less resources, energy, minimizing waste and emissions, ... as a basis for producing green, circular products.
Vietnam's exports to Singapore market in January of 2025
According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the export turnover of goods to the Singapore market in January of 2025 reached 462.3 million USD, an increase of 11% compared to the previous month and 16.3% compared to the same period last year.
In January of 2025, the leading export turnover was the group of computers, electronic products and components reaching 80.5 million USD, down by 17.4% compared to the previous month and up by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 17.4% of the export proportion. The next was crude oil reaching 73.5 million USD, accounting for 15.9% of the export proportion.
Some items with export value increased quite strongly in January of 2025 compared to the previous month, such as phones of all kinds and components increased by 293.5%; iron and steel of all kinds increased by 29.6%; iron products increased by 38.7%; cashew nuts increased by 30.3%; pepper increased by 93.3%.
Singapore is a country with a developed economy among the most dynamic in the Asia-Pacific region, playing an important role in trade cooperation with Vietnam. Singapore's need to find and expand the market for supplying raw materials to replace the Chinese market is very large.
Vietnam is one of the key markets helping Singapore compensate for the shortage of goods, especially agricultural, aquatic, food and construction products.
Vietnam's exports of goods to the Indonesian market in January of 2025
According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's export of goods to the Indonesian market in January of 2025 reached 437.1 million USD, down by 12.5% compared to the previous month and down by 22.2% compared to the same month last year.
Vietnam's exports to Indonesia include rice, seafood, coffee, chemical products, plastic raw materials, footwear of all kinds, textile raw materials, leather and footwear, iron and steel of all kinds, etc. The group of computers, electronic products and components was the leading group in terms of export turnover to the Indonesian market. Vietnamese goods are also gradually asserting their position in the Indonesian market with export turnover increasing over time.
In January of 2025, the item of telephones of all kinds and components led the export turnover to the Indonesian market, reaching 39.4 million USD, up by 92.4% over the previous month and up by 10.7% over the same month last year, accounting for 9% of the export proportion.
The next was the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, reaching 38.3 million USD, down by 5% over the previous month and down by 15% over the same month last year, accounting for 8.7% of the export proportion.
In January of 2025, some items had export turnover growth compared to the same period last year, including chemical products increased by 130.4%; rubber increased by 148%; animal feed and raw materials increased by 683.2%; confectionery and cereal products increased by 62.8%.
