Vietnam animal feed market in February 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Domestic animal feed prices in February 2025 remain unchanged compared to January 2025, according to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center ( VITIC).
In Đồng Nai, the prices of various pig feed types remain stable. The wholesale price of feed for fattening pigs (30kg – 60kg and from 60kg to slaughter) remains at 8,520 VND/kg. The feed for piglets (from weaning to 15kg) is 15,540 VND/kg. Similarly, fish feed prices have shown no fluctuations: barramundi feed UP remains at 28,500 VND/kg, and Cargill brand fish feed is 14,000 VND/kg.
However, the wholesale price of whiteleg shrimp feed (UP brand) has increased by 1,750 VND/kg, reaching 34,500 VND/kg.
In terms of raw materials, rice bran and cornmeal prices have shown mixed trends. In Bình Phước, the retail price of rice bran has dropped by 397 VND/kg compared to the previous month, now trading at 10,517 VND/kg. The price of regular corn kernels has slightly decreased by 10 VND/kg, now at 9,533 VND/kg. Cornmeal is priced at 10,450 VND/kg (an increase of 36 VND/kg). In Hưng Yên, wholesale corn kernel prices have risen to 8,000 VND/kg, up 1,000 VND/kg from last month. Meanwhile, local corn seed prices in Đồng Nai have dropped by 2,367 VND/kg, now trading at 4,733 VND/kg.
Supply
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s import turnover of animal feed and raw materials in January 2025 decreased by 33.42% compared to December 2024 and dropped 28.37% compared to January 2024, reaching over 304.27 million USD.
Argentina was the largest supplier of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam, accounting for 39.94% of the country's total imports, reaching over 121.51 million USD. This marks a 35.84% decrease from December 2024 but a 21.78% increase compared to January 2024.
The U.S. ranked second, accounting for 16.88% of total imports, with over 51.36 million USD, down sharply by 60.24% from December 2024 and 31.1% from January 2024.
Brazil's imports continued to rise significantly, increasing by 57.33% compared to December 2024 but down 36.28% from January 2024, reaching nearly 35 million USD.
Overall, animal feed and raw material imports from most markets in January 2025 declined in value compared to both December 2024 and January 2024.

Corn Imports
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam imported over 1 million tons of corn in January 2025, valued at over 249.77 million USD, with an average price of 249.5 USD/ton. This represents a 28.8% decrease in volume, a 27.2% drop in value, but a 2.2% increase in price compared to December 2024.
Compared to January 2024, import volume increased by 2%, while value decreased slightly by 0.2% and price declined by 2.2%.
Brazil was Vietnam's largest supplier of corn in January 2025, accounting for 59.4% of total volume and 58.6% of total value, with over 594,563 tons worth nearly 146.45 million USD (at 246.3 USD/ton). This marks a 20.6% decrease in volume, a 19.9% decrease in value, but a 0.9% increase in price compared to December 2024.
Argentina was the second-largest supplier, with nearly 387,195 tons, valued at 98.26 million USD (253.8 USD/ton), accounting for 38.7% of total volume and 39.3% of total value. Compared to December 2024, this represents a 32% decline in volume, a 28.4% drop in value, but a 5.3% increase in price. Compared to January 2024, Argentina's corn exports to Vietnam surged by 1,363% in volume, 1,368% in value, and 0.3% in price.
Soybean Imports
Vietnam imported 185,833 tons of soybeans in January 2025, valued at over 85.93 million USD, with an average price of 462.4 USD/ton. This represents a 22.3% decrease in both volume and value but a slight 0.01% price increase compared to December 2024.
Compared to January 2024, imports also decreased in volume, value, and price, with reductions of 12.4%, 29.6%, and 19.6%, respectively.
The U.S. was the largest soybean supplier, accounting for 95.3% of total volume and 94% of total value, with 177,087 tons worth nearly 80.8 million USD (456.3 USD/ton). This marked a 13.1% decrease in volume, a 14.4% drop in value, and a 1.5% price decrease compared to December 2024.
Wheat Imports
Vietnam imported nearly 403,558 tons of wheat in January 2025, valued at over 107.42 million USD, with an average price of 266.2 USD/ton. This represents a 9.9% increase in volume and a 6.5% rise in value, but a 3.1% price drop compared to December 2024.
Compared to January 2024, wheat imports decreased by 24.6% in volume, 31.3% in value, and 8.9% in price.
Brazil was Vietnam's largest wheat supplier, accounting for 52.1% of total volume and 50.5% of total value, with over 210,269 tons worth 54.28 million USD (258 USD/ton). Compared to January 2024, imports surged by 50.6% in volume and 50.5% in value but slightly declined by 0.07% in price.
Exports
Vietnam exported nearly 72.94 million USD worth of animal feed and raw materials in January 2025, down 24.36% from December 2024 and 13.92% from January 2024.
China was the largest export market, accounting for 33.95% of total exports, with over 24.76 million USD in January 2025, a 46.85% decline from December 2024 and a 9.33% drop from January 2024.
Southeast Asia accounted for 39.56% of total exports, reaching 28.85 million USD, a slight 0.13% increase from December 2024 but a 4.87% decline from January 2024.
