AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in January of 2025, the country imported 373,836 tonnes of fertilizer, equivalent to 143.83 million USD, with an average price of 384.7 USD/tonne, down by 13.04% in volume, but up by 15.67% in value and up by 33.02% in price compared to December of 2024.

Compared to January of 2024, it decreased by 9.89% in volume, but increased by 3.93% in value and increased by 15.33% in price.
China was still the leading fertilizer supplier to Vietnam, accounting for 32.35% of the total volume and 23.79% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country, reaching over 120,932 tonnes, equivalent to 34.21 million USD, the average price was 282.9 USD/tonne, down by 52.33% in volume and down by 48.57% in turnover compared to December of 2024 but up by 7.88% in price. Compared to January of 2024, it also decreased by 28.81% in volume, decreased by 10.74% in turnover but increased by 25.38% in price.
The next was the Russian market, accounting for 23.66% of the total volume and 36.7% of the total turnover, with 88,446 tonnes, equivalent to 52.78 million USD, the average price was 596.8 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 4,142% in volume, 6,373% in turnover and 52.6% in price compared to December of 2024. Compared to January of 2024, it also increased by 22.99% in volume, 20.53% in turnover but decreased by 2% in price. Notably, fertilizer imports from the Belarus market in January of 2025 rose to 3rd place with 27,379 tonnes, equivalent to 8.49 million USD, priced at 310 USD/tonne, although in the whole year of 2024, Vietnam did not import fertilizer from this market; accounting for 7.3% of total volume and 5.9% of total turnover.
