AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, corn imports of all kinds in January of 2025 reached over 1 million tonnes, worth of over 249.77 million USD, with an average price of 249.5 USD/tonne, down by 28.8% in volume, down by 27.2% in turnover but up by 2.2% in price compared to December of 2024.

Compared to January of 2024, it increased by 2% in volume, but decreased slightly by 0.2% in turnover and decreased by 2.2% in price.
Brazil was the largest market supplying corn to Vietnam in January of 2025, accounting for 59.4% of the total volume and 58.6% of the total corn import turnover of the country, reaching over 594,563 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 146.45 million USD, the price was 246.3 USD/tonne, down by 20.6% in volume, down by 19.9% in turnover but up by 0.9% in price compared to December of 2024. In comparison to January of 2024, down by 16.9% in volume, down by 20.9% in turnover and down by 4.7% in price.
The second largest market was Argentina, in January 2025, reaching nearly 387,195 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 98.26 million USD, price 253.8 USD/tonne, accounting for 38.7% of the total volume and 39.3% of the total corn import turnover of the country, down 32% in volume, down 28.4% in turnover but price increased 5.3% compared to December 2024; compared to January 2024, it increased sharply by 1,363% in volume, 1,368% in turnover and 0.3% in price. Next, the Lao market in January 2025 reached 15,100 tonnes, equivalent to 3.41 million USD, priced at 225.7 USD/tonne, accounting for 1.5% of the total volume and 1.4% of the total corn import turnover of the country, down by 8.6% in volume, down by 12% in turnover and down by 3.7% in price compared to December of 2024. In comparison to January of 2024, it decreased sharply by 53.6% in volume, down by 59.9% in turnover and down by 13.5% in price.
