According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, machinery and equipment imports to Vietnam in December of 2024 increased by 5.74% compared to November of 2024 and increased by 20.88% compared to December of 2023, reaching nearly 4.69 billion USD. In 2024, the total import value of this group of goods reached nearly 48.89 billion USD, an increase of 17.59% compared to 2023.
Machinery and equipment imported to Vietnam were mostly from China, accounting for 59.24% of the total import value of this group of goods nationwide, reaching over 28.96 billion USD, an increase of 28.66% compared to 2023. In December of 2024 alone, the figure reached over 2.85 billion USD, an increase of 4.88% compared to November of 2024 and an increase of 27.63% compared to December of 2023.
Following the main market of China was the Korean market, accounting for 10.77%, reaching over 5.26 billion USD, a decrease of 3.15%. In December of 2024 alone, the imports from this market reached 398.27 million USD, down by 3.34% compared to November of 2024 and down by 14.62% compared to December of 2023. The next was the Japanese market reached over 4.01 billion USD, down slightly by 0.09%, accounting for 8.21%.
