 Friday, February 14,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - Accounting for about 90% of cashew nut exports, Vietnam is currently the largest market for this item in Cambodia.

According to a report by Cambodian Cashew Association (CAC), in 2024, Cambodia exported 815,000 tonnes of cashew nuts, worth 1.15 billion USD, up 24% in volume and 31% in value compared to 2023. Of which, raw cashew nuts were exported to Vietnam the most, accounting for about 90% of Cambodia's cashew nut exports, followed by exports to India and China.
Cambodia has become the world's second largest producer of raw cashew nuts, with a total output of 850,000 tonnes in 2024, up 26% year-on-year. This increase is a positive signal for development of Cambodian cashew industry and cashew prices will also be high in 2024.
Cashew is one of crops with high commercial value potential in Cambodia, along with rice, rubber, cassava, palm oil, bananas, mangoes, longans and pepper.
While Cambodia has risen to become the world's second largest producer of raw cashew nuts, Vietnamese cashew industry has maintained its position as the world's leading exporter of cashew nuts for many consecutive years, affirming prestige of its brand in the international market.
Vietnamese cashew nuts are now on shelves of more than 90 countries and territories around the world, with export value growing steadily over the years.
Global cashew industry is forecast to continue to grow in the coming years, giving Vietnam the opportunity to maintain its number one position in cashew nut exports. In 2024, Vietnam's cashew nut exports continue to maintain their leading position with impressive growth.
According to data from General Department of Customs, in 2024, Vietnam exported 723,800 tonnes of cashew nuts, worth 4.34 billion USD, up 12.4% in volume and 19.2% in value compared to 2023. This is the first year that cashew exports have surpassed the 4 billion USD thresholds.
Average export price of Vietnam's cashew nuts has continuously increased sharply since May 2024 and increased to 6,673 USD/tonne in December 2024. In 2024, average export price of Vietnam's cashew nuts will reach 6,001 USD/tonne, up 6.1% compared to 2023.
In 2024, Vietnam's cashew nut exports will develop quite favorably in context of increasing import demand in most major markets. Vietnamese cashew nut exporting enterprises have exploited the markets: the United States, China, the Netherlands, Germany, UAE, Canada, Spain, Russia, France...export rate to these markets all recorded double-digit growth.
