According to data from General Department of Customs, import and export of goods between Vietnam and Japan in 2024 reached 48.18 billion USD. Of which, Vietnam's exports to Japanese market reached 24.59 billion USD, an increase of 5.6% over the same period last year (equivalent to an increase of 1.3 billion USD).
Some export items recorded positive growth compared to previous year, including: Textiles and garments reaching 4.33 billion USD, an increase of 6.7% (equivalent to an increase of 273 million USD); Means of transport and spare parts reached 3.03 billion USD, up 2.9% (equivalent to an increase of 86 million USD)...
On the contrary, value of imported goods from Japan in 2024 reached 21.59 billion USD, down 0.2% compared to the previous year (equivalent to a decrease of 39.4 million USD).
Group of imported goods that decreased compared to the previous year included: Computers, electronic products and components reached 6.73 billion USD, down 8.4% (equivalent to a decrease of 615 million USD); machinery, equipment, tools, and other spare parts reached 4.01 billion USD, down slightly by 0.1%...
Thus, in 2024, trade balance tilted towards Vietnam with a trade surplus of 3 billion USD, higher than the trade surplus of 1.7 billion USD in 2023.
