Vietnam’s animal feed import markets in 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - In 2024, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials reached over 4.9 billion USD, down by 1.05% compared to 2023.
According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, imports of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam in December of 2024 increased by 8.7% compared to November of 2024 and increased by 26.9% compared to December of 2023, reaching 457 million USD. Overall, in 2024, the country’s imports of this group of goods reached over 4.9 billion USD, down by 1.1% compared to 2023.
The imports of animal feed and raw materials were mostly from the Argentine market, accounting for 35.5% of the total import turnover of this group of goods nationwide, reaching over 1.74 billion USD, up by 29.4% compared to 2023. In which December of 2024 alone, the figure reached 189.39 million USD, down by 16.8% compared to November of 2024 but increased sharply by 160.4% compared to December of 2023.
Ranked second is the US market, accounting for 20.7%, reaching 1.02 billion USD, up 33.4% over the same period in 2023; in December 2024 alone, imports from this market reached 129.18 million USD, up 53.5% compared to November 2024 and up 35.8% compared to December 2023.
The next was the Brazilian market. In December of 2024, the imports of animal feed from Brazil increased sharply by 657.4% compared to November of 2024 but decreased by 44.8% compared to December of 2023, reaching nearly 22.25 million USD. In the whole year of 2024, the imports of animal feed from this market decreased by 39.8% compared to 2023, reaching nearly 551.94 million USD, accounting for 11.3% of the total turnover.
