AsemconnectVietnam - In 2024, the country imported over 3.11 million tonnes of liquefied gas (gas), worth of over 2.04 billion USD, with an average price of 656.6 USD/tonne.

According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in December of 2024, the country imported 198,268 tonnes of liquefied gas, equivalent to over 138.05 million USD, with an average price of 696.3 USD/tonne, down by 25.03% in volume, down by 24.83% in value but up by 0.26% in price compared to November of 2024. In comparison to December of 2023, it also decreased by 9.9% in volume, down by 8.01% in value but up by 2.1% in price.
In 2024, the country imported over 3.11 million tonnes of liquefied gas, worth of over 2.04 billion USD, with an average price of 656.6 USD/tonne, up by 6.12% in volume, up by 31.55% in turnover and by 6.12% in price compared to 2023.
The country’s leading liquefied gas import markets were Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E; of which, Qatar was the largest market.
In December of 2024, the imports from this market continued to decrease slightly compared to November of 2024, down by 5.53% in volume, down by 4.94% in turnover but the price increased slightly by 0.63%, reaching 22,009 tonnes, equivalent to over 14.06 million USD, the price was at 639 USD/tonne.
In comparison to December of 2023, the volume remained unchanged, the turnover decreased by 11.74% and the price decreased by 11.74%. In general, in 2024, 619,866 tonnes of liquefied gas were imported from the Qatar market, equivalent to over 384.86 million USD, priced at 620.9 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 211.38% in volume, an increase of 197.46% in turnover but a decrease of 4.47% in price compared to 2023; accounting for 19.9% of the total volume and 18.8% of the total import turnover of liquefied gas of the whole country.
Saudi Arabia was Vietnam's second largest liquefied gas import market. In December of 2024, the imports from this market reached 12,772 tonnes, equivalent to over 8.87 million USD, priced at 694.7 USD/tonne, down by 81.25% in volume, down by 80.7% in value compared to November of 2024, but prices increased by 2.92%. In comparison to December of 2023, it increased sharply by 84.06% in volume, 97.63% in value and 7.37% in price.
In 2024, 401,231 tonnes of liquefied gas were imported from Saudi Arabia, equivalent to over 264.09 million USD, with an import price of 658.2 USD/tonne, down by 29.49% in volume, down by 20.2% in value but up by 13.18% in price compared to 2023, accounting for 12.9% of the total volume and total value.
The next was the U.A.E market, with 27,630 tonnes in December 2024, equivalent to over 18.51 million USD, with a price of 670 USD/tonne, down by 9.41% in volume, down by 7.3% in value compared to November of 2024 but the price increased by 2.32%. In comparison to December of 2023, it increased by 39.79% in volume, increased by 33.62% in value but decreased by 4.42% in price.
In the whole year of 2024, 369,410 tonnes of liquefied gas were imported from the UAE, worth of over 236.52 million USD, priced at 640.3 USD/tonne, down by 16.76% in volume, down by 9.32% in value but up by 8.94% in price compared to 2023, accounting for 11.9% of the total volume and 11.6% of the total import turnover of liquefied gas of the whole country.
