Rice Prices on January 21, 2025: Slight Decrease

Domestic Market Prices:
• OM 380 raw rice: 7,500–7,600 VND/kg (down 100 VND/kg)
• OM 380 finished rice: 8,800–9,000 VND/kg
• IR 504 raw rice: 7,600–7,800 VND/kg (down 200 VND/kg)
• IR 504 finished rice: 9,500–9,700 VND/kg
By-products:
• Fragrant broken rice: 7,000–7,200 VND/kg
• Dry bran: 5,700–5,800 VND/kg
Regional Observations:
• Lấp Vò - Vàm Cống (Đồng Tháp): Low supply, slight price decrease; warehouses are purchasing cautiously, with some preparing for the Lunar New Year holiday.
• Sa Đéc (Đồng Tháp): Declining supply and prices, with many warehouses halting purchases.
• An Cư (Cái Bè, Tiền Giang): Limited supply, mostly average-quality rice, with stable prices.
Retail Market Prices:
• Common rice: 15,000–17,000 VND/kg
• Premium varieties:
o Nàng Nhen: 28,000 VND/kg
o Nàng Hoa: 21,500 VND/kg
o Thai fragrant long-grain: 20,000–22,000 VND/kg
o Jasmine fragrant rice: 18,000–20,000 VND/kg
o Common white rice: 17,500 VND/kg
o Taiwanese fragrant rice: 21,000 VND/kg
o Soc rice: 18,000 VND/kg (common); 21,000 VND/kg (premium)
o Japanese rice: 22,500 VND/kg
Paddy Rice Market:
Prices remain steady compared to last week:
• IR 50404 (wet): 6,200–6,400 VND/kg
• OM 5451: 6,500–6,700 VND/kg
• OM 18 (wet): 7,600–7,800 VND/kg
• Dai Thom 8 (wet): 7,600–7,800 VND/kg
• OM 380: 6,600–6,700 VND/kg
• Japanese rice: 7,800–8,000 VND/kg
• Nàng Hoa 9: 9,200 VND/kg
Regional Supply Dynamics:
• In Sóc Trăng, early Winter-Spring crops are slowly emerging, with stable prices and slow sales.
• In Đồng Tháp, farmers are offering more, but transactions remain slow.
• In Long An and Cần Thơ, farmers are selling cautiously, awaiting harvest dates.
• In Kiên Giang, supplies of seasonal rice in Miệt Thứ are low, prompting some farmers to increase prices.
Export Market:
Vietnam’s rice export prices remain stable compared to last week, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA):
• 5% broken rice: USD419/ton
• 25% broken rice: USD395/ton
• 100% broken rice: USD326/ton
The domestic rice market continues to experience slow trading activity and limited supply as the Lunar New Year approaches. Export prices remain competitive in the global market, maintaining stability amid reduced trading volumes.
