 Friday, January 17,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

According to the latest report, the price of pepper today ranges from VND145,000 to VND146,000 per kilogram. The impact of climate change in 2024 has affected pepper production, but some regions have reported favorable weather conditions. In Dak Lak province, the price of pepper today increased by 500 VND to VND145,500 per kilogram.
This morning, pepper prices slightly increased in Dak Lak, while remaining unchanged in other provinces compared to the same time yesterday. According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), pepper prices for black pepper from Lampung (Indonesia) are at USD7,142 per ton; black pepper from Brazil (ASTA 570) is at USD6,350 per ton; and black pepper from Kuching (Malaysia, ASTA) is at USD8,700 per ton. White pepper from Muntok is at USD 9,231 per ton, and white pepper from Malaysia (ASTA) is at USD11,100 per ton.
In Vietnam, the price for black pepper (500 g/l) is at USD 6,350 per ton, and for black pepper (550 g/l), it is USD6,650 per ton. White pepper is trading at USD9,550 per ton.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association noted that the impact of climate change in 2024 affected the production of pepper. However, some areas experienced favorable weather conditions. In Dak Nong, the pepper capital of Vietnam, production is expected to be on par with last year. In key provinces such as Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, there is a positive trend as the increase in pepper prices encourages farmers to invest more in care and restoration of existing pepper gardens.
However, in Dak Lak, the second-largest pepper-growing province, production is expected to decrease due to farmers shifting to durian cultivation, and there is little new planting. Pepper harvests in Dak Lak are expected to begin after the Lunar New Year and continue until the end of April 2025.
In the last three months of 2024, domestic prices remained stable at around VND140,000 to VND150,000 per kilogram. Compared to the beginning of the year, domestic black pepper prices increased by 75.6%, and white pepper increased by 68.8%. Similarly, export prices increased by 30.7% for black pepper and 28.6% for white pepper.
The Association expects global pepper prices in 2025 to remain high due to a decline in supply, while demand from large markets such as the U.S. and Europe remains stable. The demand for pepper in the food and spice processing industries is expected to continue driving the market.
According to Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in December 2024, Vietnam exported 15,265 tonnes of pepper of all kinds with a total export turnover of 100.6 million USD, down 4.3% in volume and 5.5% in turnover compared to the previous month.
